Making a career choice is the most important decision you will ever make however it is often a hard decision to make. At this stage of your life always ensure that you make the right decision as it will affect the greater part of your adult life.
You must always check whether the courses you are interested in doing as offered by one or all of the following;
Traditional Universities
Comprehensive Universities
Universities of Technology
Public Colleges
*Admission Requirements*
At this stage you must ensure that you meet the minimum admission requirements. Also consider applying for courses that have admission requirements below the ones you have. For example if your APS is 30 do not only apply for courses that require 30 points, try to apply for courses also that requires 25 points. This will better your chances of admission to the course that requires 25 points as you would be a top applicant in that group of applicants.
Also check whether the course requires Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, some courses require only mathematics while others require any of the two. Also here always try to also apply for the courses where you have more than the required levels. For example if a course requires level 4, also apply for a courses that requires level 2 as this will improve your chances of admission.
*Documents Required*
It is always important to submit all documents required, as your application may be unsuccessful due to outstanding documents. The following documents are always compulsory;
- Applicant ID Copy
- Results
- Parent ID Copy
Some institutions require you to submit additional documents like, Affidavits, Portfolios and Parent Consent etc.
If you are currently doing Grade 12 please do not make a mistake of applying with Grade 12 June Results to all universities, there are universities which only requires Grade 11 Results only and no Grade 12 June Results are required. You need to know which results are required by the university.
If you have already passed Grade 12 and you are now upgrading or repeating please always indicate that you are upgrading. Also try to get contact details of the faculty admissions office, this will help you immediately you get your improved results to directly sent them to the faculty.
If you have passed Grade 12 and now taking a gap year, always ensure to apply for courses that you directly meet the requirements.
*Application Period*
Always apply early to as many universities or colleges as possible. Most universities soon will close applications for 2023. Please apply now.
