Shelanti Private School

Shelanti Private School A school where every child matters. We celebrate individuality, inspire curiosity, and create a joyful, inclusive learning journey. ✨ Grade R - 7

Shelanti Private Schools vision is to provide our Grade R - 7 learners with the opportunity to acquire the appropriate life skills so that they may become assertive, responsible and accountable members of society. At Shelanti we strive to create an atmosphere of acceptance, mutual respect, creativity and dignity for all. We are a school with an inclusive learning environment. Our aim is to provid

e an individual approach to all our students by focusing on their unique talents, aptitude and learning styles. We focus on the process of learning and celebrate each achievement, ensuring academic excellence. Shelanti follows and excels in the National curriculum (CAPS). Upon enrolment, each learner’s brain preference is identified, using the tools formulated by the Neethling Brain Institute. These learning and student profiles are then considered in the teachers’ lesson plans to guarantee optimal learning for all. This tool then also ensures that our learners become Whole Brain learners who can adapt to any situation. Fostering creativity is at the core of the learning process. The ability to think creatively is crucial to preparing our learners to succeed in any learning and working environment. We also focus on developing a resourceful home environment by equipping the parents with educational material. Shelanti recognises that each learner is an individual with a unique emotional profile. Without emotional nurturing, no learning can take place. We therefore profile each learner’s temperament, allowing more insight into each learner’s emotional behaviour. If needed, an intervention plan is then designed to suit the learner’s emotional needs. The following programme of support is implemented at Shelanti. It comprises structured means of intervention, delivered within specific time frames:

* The use of devices and technology by our learners supports the curriculum differentiation This is a key strategy for responding to the needs of learners with diverse learning styles and/or needs.
* Goal setting for each learner allows us to continually assess the progress and successes of each learner.
* Concessions, i.e. scribes, readers, extra time, spelling concessions, are granted.
* Creating an Individual Support Plan (ISP) for each learner which highlights barriers and interventions. This ISP is revised each term and discussed with the parent.
* Ensuring smooth transition into the high school of their choice.
* Continual training and mentoring of staff is another way that Shelanti keeps up with new developments and strategies in education, and remains relevant.

Our Grade 2 learners became time travellers, journeying through some of the most fascinating eras in history! From the age of the dinosaurs 🦕 to the Medieval Era 🏰 and beyond, each learner chose an era that sparked their curiosity and became an expert for the day.

Through their oral presentations, our learners shared fascinating facts about the people, places, animals and lifestyles of their chosen time period.

More than learning about history, they discovered that learning comes alive when we allow ourselves to imagine, question and explore. 🌟

What an incredible journey through time! 🚀⏳

⏰✨ Travelling Through Time in Grade 2! ✨⏰

This week, our Grade 2 learners took a giant leap through the past, present and future while learning all about combining different tenses! 🚀

Using hula hoops as our very own time zones, the learners jumped into the past, present and future, making grammar fun, active and memorable. 🔵🟢🟡

They then worked collaboratively in groups to sort and identify nouns and actions linked to different tenses, before putting their understanding into practice independently. 📚

Finally, our learners challenged themselves to take those words and transform them into different tenses, applying what they had learnt with confidence and creativity. 🌟

Who knew grammar could involve so much jumping, teamwork and time travel? 😄⏳

❤️🫀🦴 Getting to know our amazing bodies!

Our Grade R learners became little body detectives as they explored what makes us tick! We looked at the organs inside our bodies, explored X-rays to discover the bones that give us structure, and even found and felt our heartbeats.

After a fun burst of running, we could feel and observe the difference as our hearts began beating faster, helping us make a real-life connection between movement and what happens inside our bodies. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Learning about our bodies is so much more exciting when we can see it, feel it and explore it for ourselves (and when we get a chance to wear our teacher’s watch! 😉). 💗

🤖🔧 Our Grade 3 learners are diving into the WeDo 2.0 kits and having a blast bringing their creations to life!

First, they follow detailed building instructions, developing patience, precision and problem-solving skills. Then comes the exciting part — coding their creations to move! 💻⚙️

Through coding, they’re learning about cause and effect and discovering how their ideas can turn into real, moving creations.

From following instructions to making things happen, our little engineers are learning that great ideas can become reality! 🚀🧠

🧱✨ Our little Grade 2 engineers had SO much fun with Six Bricks!

They tested their towers on solid and sandy ground, explored vibrations and stability, and discovered why some towers stand strong while others come crashing down! 🏗️

There were plenty of smiles, problem-solving, creative thinking and, of course, lots of “LET’S TRY AGAIN!” moments! 😄

Learning through play, one brick at a time! 💙🧡

🎨✨ BIG SKILLS THROUGH SMALL MOVEMENTS! 🧶

Our Grade 1 artists are building big skills with small movements! 💛

Weaving with colourful pipe cleaners is a fun and creative way for our learners to strengthen their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and concentration. 👐👀🧠

Every loop, tuck and turn takes patience, precision and perseverance — and each little creation is a reminder that steady progress happens one movement at a time. 🌟

We love watching our young creators learn, explore and grow through hands-on experiences! 🎨💛

🇪🇬✨ Egypt Day in Grade 5! ✨🇪🇬

Our Grade 5 learners stepped back in time for an exciting Ancient Egypt experience! 🏺👑

Dressed as ancient Egyptians, our learners brought history to life through creative outfits, engaging presentations, and oral presentations about the fascinating life of the famous boy king, Tutankhamun — and why his story continues to capture the world’s imagination.

This activity challenged our Grade 5s to put their research skills, creativity, confidence, and presentation skills to work. From their carefully researched facts to their incredible costumes, every learner embraced the spirit of Ancient Egypt! 🌟

Well done, Grade 5! You certainly brought the past to life! 👏📚
