Enhance the mind is Non-profit organisation registered with the department of social development. The organisation entered in to the register on the 11th November 2015 with registration number 161-504 NPO. The organisation is registered in terms of the Non Profit Organisation Act 1997. The organisation started to operate on the 01st May 2012 unregistered. The aim of the organisa
tion (Enhance the Mind) is to help the students through academic support and financial support online application (Bursaries and learnerships. The organisation (Enhance the Mind) has been re-locating within the Sekhukhune District helping students to apply for various universities and universities of Technology and bursaries online. ACHIEVEMENT
The organisation managed to support students with information regarding career information, soft copies material, e.g. downloaded previous question papers and memorandums, including study guides and providing free tutorial service for, mathematics, physical sciences, accounting and life sciences. The organisation is proud to embrace its effort and contribution towards to department of education interest by helping 749 students across Sekhukhune district from 2012 to 2015 academic years to inter various universities/tertiary’s with approved bursaries (e.g. The organisation is proud that 26 students have graduated in the year 2015 from various universities. MAIN ATCTIVITIES AND PURPOSE
1. MAIN ACTIVITIES
To help students to apply for enrolment at universities and to get bursaries. To provide tutorial support to those who are need of Mathematics, Accounting, Physical Sciences and Life Sciences. To provide study material and career guides.
2. PURPOSES
Enhance the Mind understand that South African economy is shaking and disadvantage those who are less educated. The organisation invested in education to boost our shaking economy. We as the organisation believe that who suffer direct makes others suffer indirect. To stabilize our economy. To reduce poverty. Job creation. Promotes talented youth. Promoting reading awareness. Sustainability plan
Enhance the mind has a strong sense of being mission-driven. The organisation has its own dimensions for sustainability for board competencies and delegation of duties for oversight, good governance and quality performance that will ensure continuity. The following are the dimensions for Enhance the Mind
The legal good standing and compliance, this includes not only signing off. Audited financial statement, but making sure that all fiduciary reporting deadlines are met, that all taxes are paid to the South African Revenue service, that issuance of section 18a receipts to donors are done correctly, that amendments and changes to constitutions, trust deeds and memorandums of incorporations are done in accordance with statutory bodies. Organisational capacity and expertise to do the work ,that a clearly defined visions, mission and set goals and targets have been defined in marketing plan, That the programmers and projects being undertaken by employees are professional and that adequate resources are in place. Dedicated staff and committed volunteers including board members have written contracts with duties (job descriptions). Technological know-how and access to broad bands is a must. Financial viability of the organisation and its progrmmes, revenue plan with financial projections of the Enhance the Mind is in place for 2-3 years and approved by the board. Such a plan include diverse income sources and avoid reliance on a single or few streams-the plan is balanced using a variety of fundraising techniques appropriate to programmes and mission. Advocacy for the work undertaken to change the world. The organisation is aim to respond quick to a call for action. Enhance the Mind aim to interact with national and local government on policy making, join issue based coalitions and energetically participate in advocacy campaigns. Lobby for reform to social justice, influence legislation that might affect the sector such as broad based black economic empowerment,(B-BBEE) score cards, participate in public benefit taxation laws that enable or disable the NPO sector, encourage ethical behaviour, promote values and sign codes of good contact. Quality and professionalism of service provision, the organisation focuses on the greatest needs in my community and do not proffer projects that are not necessarily going to change status quo. The organisation (Enhance the Mind) measured the impact being achieved and effectiveness service to beneficiaries, which will not be cut-back if there is a funding crunch. Ideally other NPOs and government department recognise the organisation work and beneficiaries are even prepared to pay fees for the organisation (Enhance the Mind) service. Leadership and board members of the organisation will have to pull all of this together. To really works a difference, change the world eradicate poverty and demonstrate a social shift from good to great while remaining true to their mission. FUTUTE PLAN
Enhance the Mind future plan presents strategic direction for Sekhukhune library. The plan affirms the ongoing value of library and provides a clear vision what excellent library should look like. Plan offer models of success that may be utilized across the country. Enhance the Mind realised the shortage of information centre and libraries in Sekhukhune area, which we believe it affects the performance of schools in Sekhukhune area. Enhance the Mind took a stand to build a library which will represent communities, schools and empower individuals. Again the organization realise the challenges of the Department of Education particularly for text book distribution, therefore with the mobile library, residents around Sekhukhune can have access of information. The organisation plan to build one big library which will consist of school library, public library, academic and research library and technology and the information marketplace. This plan makes it clear that library as educational institution and community centre will be central to well being and Economic development of the state. Enhance the Mind want to fulfil its long term goal (2028 vision) to be number one leading library information centre in Limpopo, which will combine with laboratory. Enhance the Mind realised the need of laboratory in Sekhukhune schools. Many of the schools in Limpopo have no laboratories classes for practical purpose, therefore the situation results with lower performance for physical science students especially in chemistry chapter, these types of problems occur due to lack of resources and facilities in our schools. Enhance the mind want to provide scientific work place that promotes innovation, knowledge transfer, collaboration and effectiveness. The organizations understand that public schools suffer lots in terms facilitating school with scientific resources. This plan goes together with 2028 vision to build laboratory centre for public school to do practical which will cover the basic needs of secondary school curriculum , while providing mobile one periodically for school across the provinces .
