CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: 2027/2028 COMPREHENSIVE AGRICULTURAL SUPPORT PROGRAMME (CASP)

The Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) wishes to inform all farmers across Gauteng that the application closing date for the 2027/2028 CASP funding has been officially postponed to 11 September 2026 at 16:00.

Target Commodities:
Priority will be given to Poultry, Piggery, Horticulture, Grains, Cannabis, Red Meat, and Aquaculture.

Areas of Support:

Production Inputs: Chicks, breeding stock, seeds, feed, fertilizers, and medication.

Infrastructure: Poultry/piggery structures, tunnels, shade-nets, boreholes, and handling facilities.

Agro-Processing & Marketing: Milling, cold rooms, packhouses, mobile refrigeration, packaging, and food safety training (SA GAP / HACCP).

Key Application Requirements:

Certified South African ID copy (not older than 3–6 months)

Valid proof of land tenure (Title deed, permission to occupy, or min. 5-year lease)

CIPC Company registration & Tax Clearance Certificate

Business plan & financial statements (where applicable)

What we're looking for:
✔️ Minimum 4 years’ experience working at a cattle feedlot
✔️ Extensive cattle experience and a genuine passion for working with cattle
✔️ Matric / Grade 12
✔️ Animal Health qualification would be advantageous
✔️ Excellent leadership, people and communication skills
✔️ Computer literate with basic Excel knowledge
✔️ Strong numeracy and attention to detail

• Caring for and monitoring cattle health and welfare
• Identifying and treating sick cattle
• Managing cow and calf herds

• Monitoring feed bunks, grazing camps and water resources
• Maintaining accurate livestock records and reports
• Leading and managing cattle and feedlot staff
