Finalizing with component detailing

In continuation from the detailed plan, elevation, and section with two detailed components for each assignment. In today’s class, we transferred the AutoCAD detailed drawing to photoshop for rendering and giving life to the drawing to allow a third party to easily understand what the drawing is about. Rendering is also about improving the quality of work we do.

Detailed plan, elevation, and sections

In continuation of our detailed section, in today’s class, we were tasked to choose two important components and draw two detailed drawings showing how the component is constructed and functions. I decided to choose a bench and timber decking to show how they are attached together and what material is used to construct them, lastly how the material used to construct them contributes to my concept.

Transferring the AutoCAD section to photoshop

In continuation of the AutoCAD section for our rooftop garden design, in today’s class, we are transferring the section to photoshop for rendering. As always photoshop has some challenges and difficulties but since we are now getting familiar with the program our rendering skills have improved and the quality of work is starting to show. The aim is to improve our rendering and the quality of work and for me, we are winning because the work speaks for itself.

In continuation from the introduction to the planting plan and the first draft of the planting plan. in today’s I was improving my planting plan and adding more elements like the names of the plants as at first it was just pictured. We were also required to add plant density, size, and tree staking to show understanding of the plants and how they are planted in a site. We hand to specify everything that is involved in the planting plan as we were informed that we must design a planting plan that can be used for tender.

In continuation from our design sketch plan for a rooftop garden, where we designed a rooftop sketch plan. In today’s lecture, we were tasked to cut sections from the plan and draw by hand a detailed section showing some significant elements like planting, seating area, purification pond, and raised planter. Perspective drawings

In today’s lecture, we were tasked to choose two important components from our sketch plan design and do a hand perspective drawing showing what it would/want it to look like. For the first component, I chose a ramp and stairs as I thought they are important in my design as they allow the gradual change of level from one space to another so for me, they are very crucial because they help connect the space together. For the second component, I chose a seating area that shows a raised planter, concrete bench, and purification pond. This potion for me covers all the elements of my space and gives a typical idea of what the space will be like.

In today's class time, we had an online meeting with our lecturer and SALI representatives. The meeting was arranged for us students to help us understand what SALI is and why should be it is also important for us to register with SALI and be members of that organization. We were also told about the role they play in the profession and how they have helped promote the field of landscaping. We were also told about how it would benefit our emerging careers in the field and how it can boost our chances of getting in-service training.

Planting plan

In continuation from the planting design strategies class where we were introduced to planting plans, planting pallets, and design strategies. In today’s lecture, we were tasked to develop our own planting plan using the sketch plan we designed for IDS. The aim of this assignment is to train our plant grouping ability and to understand the role of plants in a design rather than being just green soft landscaping. This also is to enlighten us on how the process of choosing a plant to use in a design goes about.
