🙏 GRACE, GRACE, BLESS OUR PLACE 🙏

WEES JOUSELF.

A GIFT THAT GOES BEYOND OUR SCHOOL

Sometimes a donation is about so much more than just what is inside the box. It is about someone seeing a need, caring enough to do something about it, and choosing to extend that kindness into a community.

We are so blessed to have received two boxes filled with reusable sanitary pads, generously funded by Louise from Dream Out Loud Productions and arranged with the wonderful help of Candy from LEAFLINE!

The donation provides reusable pads for each of the women connected to Kareedouw Online, including our volunteers and some of the women within our wider community whom we walk alongside of.

And WOW… what a beautiful, thoughtful and practical gift!

The materials are absolutely beautiful, and everything was packaged with such care. But the most beautiful thing of all is the hearts behind such a donation.

At Kareedouw Online, we are incredibly blessed by many people who support our team and our learners. And so it is especially touching when someone chooses to extend the support offered to us to include more of the women who give their time, energy and hearts to our little community.

Thank you, Louise and Dream Out Loud Productions, for funding this incredibly generous gift!

And thank you to Candy and LeafLine for creating such a meaningful, practical and beautifully made product!

Your generosity will be felt by many women in our community, and we are so grateful that we get to share this blessing with them.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Dream Out Loud Productions uses storytelling and social impact initiatives to inspire positive change, and we feel incredibly honoured that they chose to extend that impact into our little community in such a practical and meaningful way.

And for those who may not know LeafLine, they are a South African company based in the Eastern Cape creating washable, reusable sanitary products using innovative, sustainable materials including natural pineapple-leaf fibre. Their work is about more than reusable products — it is also about menstrual dignity, sustainability and empowering women.

🙏 GRACE, GRACE, BLESS OUR PLACE 🙏

🙏 Grace, Grace, Bless Our Place 🙏

The best classroom has no walls.

A threat may get a child moving faster, shame may stop a behavior in the moment, and yelling may produce immediate compliance, but immediate compliance and long-term learning are not the same thing.

Children are building their understanding of themselves and relationships through thousands of everyday interactions, which means our words can become part of the inner voice they eventually carry with them, especially when certain messages are repeated over and over.

That is why it can help to ask a different question during hard moments, not only, “How do I make this stop right now?” but also, “What am I teaching while I handle this?”

We can correct behavior without attacking character, hold a firm boundary without withdrawing connection, and expect accountability while still protecting dignity, and none of that requires perfect parenting because we will all have moments we wish we had handled differently, which is where repair becomes important too.

Parenting changes when we remember that we are not only managing today’s behavior, we are helping shape the voice, skills, and relationship patterns our children may carry into adulthood.

Children with ADHD are not struggling because they lack discipline. Their brains are wired for motion, rhythm, and engagement. When they move, cognitive networks that control focus and planning switch on in ways that sitting still can never achieve. Movement is not a distraction. It is activation.

Studies show that even twenty minutes of structured physical activity can raise attention levels by up to forty percent. Running, swimming, biking, and team sports stimulate dopamine and norepinephrine, the very chemicals ADHD brains need to regulate focus and impulse control. These activities don’t tire the brain. They sharpen it.

Music training offers another powerful boost. Rhythm, timing, and auditory sequencing strengthen the same executive function pathways that help children pause, plan, and prioritize. Research shows more than a twenty five percent improvement in attention control when music becomes part of their weekly routine.

When movement and rhythm are woven into daily life, ADHD brains operate closer to their natural design. Stress decreases, emotional regulation improves, and learning becomes easier. This shift has nothing to do with “burning off energy” and everything to do with supporting neurological balance.

The right environment doesn’t fight an ADHD brain. It works with it. And when it does, focus becomes something a child can finally feel proud of.

📦 ’n Baie spesiale pakkie het by Kareedouw Online aangekom!

HERITAGE DAY | WHAT DO WE CHOOSE TO LEAVE BEHIND?

Heritage is an interesting thing…

We inherit it.

We inherit languages and stories, recipes and songs, traditions and celebrations. We inherit the wisdom of those who came before us and the values that are handed down through generations.

And there can be so much beauty in that!

But not everything we inherit is necessarily beautiful.

We can also inherit wounds.
We can inherit prejudices and fears.
We can inherit ways of thinking and doing things that may no longer serve the kind of world we want our children to live in.

And perhaps that is why Heritage Day can be about more than simply celebrating where we come from.

Perhaps it can also be a moment to pause and reflect.

What are the beautiful things we have inherited that we want to protect?
What lessons from our past must we remember?
What should we be brave enough to change?
And perhaps most importantly… What do we choose to leave behind?

Because one day, our children and our children's children will inherit what we are creating today.

They will inherit the words we chose to use.
The way we treated people who were different from us.
The way we responded when someone needed help.
The communities we built.
The divisions we either perpetuated or chose to heal.
The values we lived—not merely the values we taught.

At Kareedouw Online, we want our children to inherit more than knowledge.
We want them to inherit faith, compassion, courage, curiosity, kindness and a deep understanding that every person has value – including themselves.
We want them to know that differences don't have to divide us.
We want them to have the courage to question what needs to change, the humility to learn from those who came before them, and the wisdom to carry the good forward.

Because heritage is not only something we receive.
It is also something we are creating.
Every day.
With every choice.

Every lesson.
Every act of kindness.
Every time we choose understanding over judgement.
Every time we make room for someone else.
Every time we teach a child that they belong.

So today, we celebrate the beautiful parts of the heritage we have been given.

But we also look forward.

We reflect on what we want to carry with us, what we need to let go of, and what kind of heritage we want to create for the generations who come after us.

Because perhaps the greatest gift we can give our children is not simply a beautiful heritage to inherit… but the wisdom to build an even better one.

Happy Heritage Day from all of us at Kareedouw Online!

Geloof • Genade • Groei • Gemeenskap • Dankbaarheid • Toegerus vir die lewe

🌍 AROUND THE WORLD WITH KAREEDOUW ONLINE!

EPISODE 03: WESTERN CAPE, SOUTH AFRICA

Our journey continues! 🇿🇦

After travelling north to Gauteng and then inland to Bloemfontein, we're now heading south-west to the beautiful Western Cape — and specifically to De Kelders, Gansbaai.

From the forests, mountains and coastline around Kareedouw, to the wide open landscapes of the Free State, and now to the dramatic coastline of the Western Cape, we're discovering just how wonderfully different the places in our own country can be.

📚 DID YOU KNOW?
The Western Cape is one of South Africa's nine provinces.
Its capital city is Cape Town, home to the famous Table Mountain.
The Western Cape is known for its beautiful coastline, mountains, vineyards, unique plants and incredible wildlife.
And along the coast near Gansbaai, the ocean becomes an especially exciting part of the landscape.
Gansbaai is well known for its marine life and is an important area for observing Southern Right whales, especially during whale season. 🐋

🎥 COME EXPLORE WITH US!
We've received a wonderful video showing us a little piece of De Kelders, Gansbaai, giving our learners the opportunity to see another part of our beautiful country.

As our learners watch, we can begin asking:
👀 What do we see?
🌊 What does the coastline look like?
🐋 What animals might live in or around this ocean?
🪨 What do the rocks, beaches and cliffs look like?
🌿 What plants can we identify?
🐦 What birds can we identify?
☀️ How does this environment compare with Kareedouw?
💭 What looks familiar, and what looks completely different?

Because sometimes the best way to learn about our country is simply to look closely at the world around us.

Every place has its own landscape, animals, plants, people and stories to discover.

🙏 A BIG THANK YOU to Felicity Beukes from Whale Of A Time for taking the time to make this video and share a little piece of De Kelders with our learners.

Your willingness to open a window into your world is helping us bring places, people and experiences into our classroom that our learners might never otherwise get to see.

💬 NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!
Have you been to De Kelders, Gansbaai or the Western Cape before? We'd love to hear from you!
What is your favourite place, memory or special thing about the Western Cape?
And if you have a favourite photo from the Western Cape, share it in the comments below! 📸

Let's show our learners just how many beautiful and fascinating places there are to discover right here in South Africa.

One video. One place. One new window into the world.

And our journey continues... 🧳🚙🚂🚢✈️
