🌱 WE DON’T JUST CARE FOR CHILDREN — WE TEACH THEM. 📚❤️

One of the greatest compliments a school can receive is when a parent notices the learning happening at home.

We recently received this beautiful message from one of our newest Happy Feet families:

This message means so much to us because it highlights something we are very passionate about:

Happy Feet is a school. We are not simply a place where children are dropped off while parents are at work.

Every day, our teachers INTENTIONALLY create opportunities for children to learn, explore, communicate, develop skills and build a strong foundation for their future. 🧠📚✨

Even at 8 months old, children are learning. The songs, sounds, repetition, conversations, routines and activities we introduce are all part of their development.

💭 A MESSAGE TO PARENTS

When choosing a school for your child, look beyond the beautiful building.

Look beyond the cheapest school fees.

Look beyond the toys, the pictures and the appearance of the classrooms.

Ask yourself:

What is my child actually learning here?
Are the teachers intentionally teaching and engaging my child?
Is there a curriculum and educational programme?
Will this school prepare my child for the next stage of their education?
What long-term foundation is being built?

The cheapest option today may not always be the best investment for your child's tomorrow.

Your child's early years are not simply about being kept safe and entertained. They are some of the most important years for building the foundation for lifelong learning. 🌱

🌙📚 Reading Awareness Week Has Officially Begun! 📚🌙
Today we kicked off our exciting Dr. Seuss celebration with The Sleep Book 😴✨
Our little learners arrived in their cozy pajamas, slippers, gowns, and bedtime outfits ready for a day filled with stories, laughter, and fun activities. We spoke about the importance of sleep, enjoyed story time, and had lots of sleepy-time fun together! 💤💙
Thank you to all the parents for participating and making the day extra special for the children 🌟

Handwashing is one of the simplest quality practices in any ECD classroom, but its impact is powerful.

Children should learn:
🫧 Why hand hygiene is important
👐 How to wash hands properly
🍎 Hygiene before meals
🚽 Hygiene after toilet time
💧 Food and water hygiene routines

Adults also play a key role by:
✔ Modelling good hygiene daily
✔ Ensuring access to safe sanitation
✔ Keeping classrooms and outdoor areas hygienic
✔ Turning hygiene into a routine, not a once-off lesson

Top tip: Add a handwashing song to make the routine fun and consistent.

The importance of finger painting activity that the fledgings class took part in at school today.

Although it may look like simple messy fun, finger painting plays a very important role in a child’s development. Through this activity, children explore different textures, which supports their sensory development and helps them become more comfortable with new experiences.

Finger painting also strengthens fine motor skills as children use their fingers and hands to create. These are the same muscles they will later use for writing and everyday tasks.

In addition, it encourages creativity and self-expression. At this age, children may not always have the words to express themselves, and art gives them a safe and enjoyable way to do so.

Working with different colours also helps with early learning concepts such as colour recognition, colour mixing, and understanding cause and effect.

This activity also supports emotional development, as it can be calming and allows children to freely express their feelings. It further builds confidence, as there is no right or wrong way to create their artwork.

We encourage you to allow your child to explore similar activities at home, even if it gets a little messy 😊
