AI is already working inside legal teams. What most General Counsel are grappling with now is what to do about it.

Last night, BUI was proud to attend The African GC Night as a Gold Partner, hosted by Law Ninja. This exclusive, invitation-only event brought together some of Africa's most senior General Counsel and legal leaders for candid discussion about the role technology plays in modern legal practice.

A highlight of the evening was a talk by Colin Baumgart, BUI Global Sales Manager: "The AI Lawyer: Brilliant, Reckless, and Already in Your Organisation." Colin walked through how AI is reshaping legal work in real time, from accelerating case research to the risks that come with it, including hallucinated case law and the very real challenge of protecting sensitive client information.

BUI's Group Legal Counsel, Valencia Naidoo, was also in attendance, engaging with peers on the conversations shaping the future of the legal profession.

Thank you to Law Ninjas for a thoughtful and well-run evening.

The intersection of technology and legal practice is reshaping how organisations manage compliance, data governance, and business risk. That conversation matters to us.

We're proud to be a Gold Partner at the second edition of The African GC Night, taking place on Thursday, 11 June in Johannesburg. Hosted by Law Ninjas, the event brings together some of Africa's most senior in-house legal minds for an evening of networking and forward-looking discussion.

We're looking forward to connecting with General Counsels and legal leaders who understand that technology decisions are business decisions.

That's a wrap on Day 2 at the ITWeb Security Summit 2026.

The ITWeb Security Summit always brings the right people together, and this year has been no different. We have had real, substantial discussions about where organisations are falling short on security, what practical resilience actually looks like, and how to make progress without the noise.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, tried a live demo, or simply came to say hello.

Day 2 at the ITWeb Security Summit 2026, and Jackie is back.

Yesterday, our humanoid robot became the most-photographed guest at the Sandton Convention Centre. The handshakes and high fives are still going strong this morning, and so are the conversations.

It has been a reminder that the best security discussions happen in person. And there is no shortage of important topics to cover.

If you did not make it to our stand yesterday, today is your chance. Come and find us at Stand 9 to explore three of our latest security offerings:
- See.Tech: get a free external exposure scan to show you what attackers can see from the outside
- HoneyForge: hardware-based deception technology to detect suspicious activity early
- CyberSense: BUI's managed human risk management programme, targeting the human layer of your security posture

No pressure. No sales pitch. Just useful conversations, live demos, and a robot who is genuinely happy to meet you.

Day 1 at the ITWeb Security Summit 2026 in Johannesburg is a wrap and what a day it was.

Our team has spent the day connecting with security professionals, having real conversations about cyber risk, and yes, making friends with Jackie the robot.

A highlight of the day was a talk by our very own Yunus Scheepers, Group Divisional Manager: Cybersecurity Operations at BUI, who took the stage to unpack one of the most pressing threats facing organisations right now: deepfake-enabled identity threats. How they work, how attackers are weaponising them, and most importantly how we fight back.

It was a timely, grounded conversation that clearly resonated with the room.

We're back tomorrow for Day 2. If you haven't had a chance to stop by our stand yet, come and find us. We'd love to connect.

Deepfakes don't just target systems, they target people.

At the ITWeb Security Summit 2026 in Johannesburg, BUI's Yunus Scheepers explores how deepfake-enabled identity threats are being weaponised, which sectors are most at risk, and how education and awareness play a critical role in defence.

That's a wrap on the ITWeb Security Summit 2026 in Cape Town. Thank you to ITWeb and everyone who stopped by the BUI stand today.

What made today's conversations worthwhile was the honesty in the room. Security leaders aren't short of awareness. They know the landscape has shifted. What they're working through is prioritisation: where to focus, what to fix first, and how to make a credible case for investment when the threat feels abstract until it isn't.

Those are the right questions. And there are no universal answers, but there are better and worse ways to approach them.

We're taking these conversations to Johannesburg next. If you want a frank discussion about where your security posture stands and what's worth addressing first, come find the BUI team.
