Deputy Minister DM Nomusa Dube-Ncube reflects on the launch of the WorldSkills South Africa Elangeni AirCraft Maintenance Academy in Partnership with Starlite Aviation at Elangeni TVET College

Addressing the Portfolio Committee today, Minister Buti Manamela said the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) intervention was a necessary step to protect both students and public resources.

The administration process will ensure continuity of funding operations while government works to stabilise governance, improve systems, strengthen accountability and build a sustainable NSFAS for the future.

The focus remains on ensuring that poor and working-class students continue to access higher education with dignity and support.

The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Buti Manamela, notes the decision by the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training to postpone its meeting scheduled for 19 May 2026.
