Last week the learners from Retail Relate's Rural Youth Project - Phase Two (RRRYP2) completed their final theoretical training module for their NQF3 qualifications in retailing. The learners, who live in Witbank, Middelburg and the village of Mhinga in Limpopo, received their training from the Retail Relate team at the YFC Cyara Centre set in the beautiful Hekpoort Valley, near Magaliesburg. Many important concepts were learnt, after which the learners enjoyed an afternoon of fun and games on Thursday.

Pranitha Govender from Lotus Gardens, Pretoria earned herself the opportunity of a lifetime - a bursary from the W&R SETA to study retail business management at UJ - after she excelled at Retail Relate's Unemployed Youth Assistance Project. Her experiences during the UYAP gave her life direction - after matriculating she wasn't sure what she wanted to do with her life, but now she is looking forward to finding a management-level job in the retail sector after graduating.

Mamelodi resident Nokuthula Ngubeni graduated from Retail Relate's Unemployed Youth Assistance Project with excellent results. She was subsequently selected by the W&R SETA for a bursary to study retail business management at the University of Johannesburg. "After my parents passed away, I never thought I'd get the chance to study, but the UYAP gave me the opportunity to earn a qualification and get work experience," Nokuthula said. Her goal after graduating from UJ is to become a business manager, which will allow her to pass on her skills and knowledge to her subordinates.

Mamelatje Choenyane, from the small town of Marble Hall in Limpopo, got to see a whole different side of life when she participated in Retail Relate's Unemployed Youth Assistance Programme. After graduating from the UYAP with excellent results, her dream came true when she received a bursary from the W&R SETA to study retail business management at the University of Johannesburg. This ambitious young lady has set her sights on becoming a chief financial officer one day.

Kevin is studying hard in order to fulfill his dream of owning his own business in the retail sector one day.

Bantu Maqhula from Vosloorus, a graduate of Retail Relate's Unemployed Youth Assistance Project, has been awarded a bursary by the W&R SETA to study retail business management at the University of Johannesburg. "I feel like the luckiest guy in the world to have been given this amazing opportunity," he said. Bantu plans on starting his own business and becoming a supplier to retail stores in the near future.
