On July 30, 2022, UJ Confucius Institute present a tea ceremony on “The 95th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Liberation Army of China”. Prof Li Baosheng, Co-Director of UJCI introduced the origin, history, classification and efficacy of Chinese tea culture to the guests. Ms Zhang Chenxi and Ms Qin Yue, dressed in traditional costumes, using green tea, oolong tea, black tea, dark tea to demonstrate the art of tea for the guests. The generals from the South African Defence Force carefully tasted the flow of tea soup on the tip of their tongues, and are very interested in the long history and profoundness of Chinese tea culture.

UJCI is proud to announce an essay-writing contest with the objective to strengthen the friendship between South Africa and China, to increase South African youth's understanding of China's recent development, and to promote the South Africa-China people-to-people exchanges.

On August 12, under the leadership of Co-Director Prof Li Baosheng, UJCI successfully held a teaching experience sharing meeting. This meeting was the first of a series meetings which was held both online and offline. All current Chinese staff, as well as upcoming staff participated.
As the head of the teaching department of the UJCI, Ms. Zhang Chenxi shared wonderful topics from four aspects, including teaching affairs, HSK test, competitions, and resource development.
