We have had a "green" week!

Movement does far more than strengthen muscles. Every time a child rolls, crawls, climbs, jumps, balances or spins, the brain is receiving valuable sensory information and building new neural pathways. These pathways help different parts of the brain communicate more efficiently and lay the foundation for future learning.🧠👀

Through movement, children develop body awareness, balance, coordination and motor planning. At the same time, they are strengthening important cognitive skills such as attention, memory, problem solving and language.🫧

Movement also helps children regulate their energy levels and emotions, making it easier for them to focus, engage and learn.🌱

In the early years, children learn best when they are actively moving and exploring. What looks like simple play is actually building the brain from the ground up. Movement is not a break from learning. It is one of the most powerful ways the brain develops.🧠🧸

Bubbles might seem like simple fun but they’re doing so much more behind the scenes. Watching a toddler play with bubbles is actually watching development in action.🫧

Chasing bubbles encourages full body movement. Toddlers naturally run, stop, turn and change direction as they follow the bubbles through the air. This strengthens their muscles and helps them learn how to control their bodies in motion.

As they watch the bubbles and try to catch them, they are developing eye and hand coordination. Over time, you’ll notice they become quicker and more accurate as their brain and body start working together more efficiently.👀

Reaching for bubbles that float just out of grasp encourages stretching and balance. Toddlers lift onto their toes, extend their arms and engage their whole body, which helps build strength and body awareness.

When bubbles land, stomping becomes a must for any toddler. This supports coordination between the eyes and feet while also helping toddlers understand distance and depth in a very natural, playful way.🫧🩵

Then there’s jumping. Those little leaps to catch a floating bubble help develop balance, coordination and confidence. Even when they wobble or fall, they learn to recover and try again.

If your toddler starts blowing bubbles too, that’s an added bonus. Blowing helps strengthen the muscles used for speech and supports oral motor development.

Simple, playful moments like this are where so much learning happens. Does your little one love bubbles? 🫧🫧

A throwback to a craft project from term 1 ... we used fly swats to paint our ladybird.

The toddlers loved hitting the paper to spread the paint! 🐞

Movement is not just about burning energy. In the early years, movement builds the brain. Rolling, crawling, balancing and reaching strengthen neural pathways that support coordination, attention, emotional regulation and confidence. When children move regularly in a structured and supportive environment, they build strong foundations for learning.

Simple movement. Powerful impact. 💛

Listening is more than simply hearing words.

When children listen to songs, instructions and stories, they are strengthening attention, building language pathways and supporting working memory. These experiences help the brain organise, process and respond to information more effectively.

Listening also plays an important role in social understanding and emotional regulation, helping children learn how to take turns, follow cues and engage with others. These skills form the foundation for learning both inside and outside the classroom.

Small moments of listening build meaningful developmental gains.

Occasionally, a mom will hand over their baby for me to demonstrate the ball activity to the class. ❤️ It is always such fun to play with the babies.
