As an artists I believe that art is a universal language, we create to unleash, delve deep and reflect matters of our soul and spirit that words can not do. To tell a story, reveal truth, bring peace and tranquility to the viewer in a hectic world. As an artist I paint images that reflect a South African identity ; I am inspired by and visually celebrate cultural diversity in South Africa.

South Africa, your soil runs through my veins. 🇿🇦

This is more than a painting.

It is the work from which an entire body of work began.

Years ago, while travelling through South Africa, absorbing its landscapes, farmlands and people, a sentence came to me:

“South Africa, your soil runs through my veins.”

I carried those words with me.

Eventually, they became this.

She rises from the earth.
Not separate from it…
but formed by it.

Soil runs through her veins like memory…
and promise.

From her heart blooms a protea.
Rooted.
Resilient.
Sacred.

Around her, the land breathes…
mountains, rivers, sky and scar.

From what was buried, life rises.
Identity restored.
Hope… rooted in the soil we call home.

This work became the beginning of my exploration of land, identity, memory, faith and belonging, and of what I call a Rainbow Renaissance.
