Lord, thank you for the gift of forgiveness that You have given me. Thank You for Your mercy that you showed me and for sending your Son to die for me. Help me release my anger and frustration with _____. Allow me to be a vessel of Your divine forgiveness and allow me to forgive him/her. Just as I have been forgiven for my sins, so must I extend forgiveness. I choose to forgive ___ and set him/her free. In Your Name, Amen.

Change your thinking!

“You will spread out to the right and to the left.” Isa 54:3 NIV

God told His people: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isa 43:18-19 NIV). So, if you’re asking God for a vision, or to enlarge the one He’s already given you, you need to make room mentally. “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left” (Isa 54:2-3 NIV). Somebody said dreams always come a size too big so you can grow to fit them. Don’t settle for mediocrity in your work, your relationships, or your walk with God. Mark Twain said: “Twenty years from now you’ll be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do, than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the wind. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Even if you come from a background of addiction, poverty, depression, abuse, and low self-esteem, God can enable you to rise up and put an end to that old mindset of defeat. In biblical times, animal skins were made into wine containers. At first they were flexible and easy to work with, but over time they grew rigid and lost their ability to expand. That’s why Jesus said, “No one pours new wine into old wineskins. [It] would…burst the old skins…New wine must be put into new wineskins” (Mt 9:17 CEV). Throw out your old wineskins! God won’t infuse a fossilized mind with fresh ideas, but He will change your life when you line up your thinking with His.

The four fundamental elements of prayer

“Pray in the Spirit on all occasions.” Eph 6:18 NIV

To help you remember these four fundamental elements, think of the acrostic P-R-A-Y. (1) P—praise the Lord. Before you petition God, spend time praising Him. There’s a specific protocol involved when approaching a president or prime minister, and it’s the same when you approach God. The Psalmist said, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him” (Ps 100:4 NIV). (2) R—repent of your sins. Just like the heat from a furnace forces the impurities in metal to surface so that the refiner can remove them, prayer brings to light attitudes that must be changed, habits that need to be broken, and barriers to spiritual progress that must be removed. And what if you forget some of your sins? Paul tells us, “The Spirit helps us in our weakness…he who searches our hearts…intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God” (Ro 8:26-27 NIV). (3) A—ask for yourself and for others. Your prayers invite God into the situation, and your faith activates His power to change it. There’s no distance in prayer, and no language barrier it can’t overcome. Like throwing a switch and getting power, light and heat, things start to change when you pray. Jesus said, “I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven…whatever doors you open on earth shall be open in heaven!” (Mt 16:19 TLB). (4) Y—yield to God’s will. If you don’t know what God’s will is, prayer is the starting point. And if you already know and you’re not doing it, prayer will convict, correct, and channel you in the right direction.

God is only a prayer away

“This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.” Ps 34:6 NKJV

J.C. Penney has died and gone to heaven, but hundreds of department stores across America still carry his name. When he started out in life he was interested in one thing only: making money. Working as a clerk for six dollars a week, his consuming ambition was to be worth a hundred thousand dollars. When he reached that goal he felt temporary satisfaction, but soon set his sights on being worth a million dollars. Then tragedy struck his life. His wife caught cold that developed into pneumonia, of which she subsequently died. He recalled, “When she died my world crashed about me. To build businesses, to make a success in the eyes of men, to accumulate money—what was the purpose of it all? I felt mocked by life, even by God himself.” Before long he was ruined financially and in deep depression. It was at that point he turned to God and experienced a miraculous conversion. He said: “When I was brought to humility and the knowledge of my dependence on God…it was like a light illuminating my being. I cannot otherwise describe it, than to say it changed me as a man.” Have things fallen apart in your life today? Are you down, wondering if you’ll ever be able to get back up? Turn to God; He’s only a prayer away. And David the psalmist prayed that prayer: “This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.” And what God did for David, He will do for you today.

One thing I have ask from Jehovah it is what I will look for that I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all days of my life

09/03/2021

Lord, thank You for the people You have divinely placed in my life who speak holy truth, love and words of wisdom. Give me a heart of discernment to know when You are using someone to speak instruction into my heart and my circumstances, and give me the strength and courage to follow through with that advice, even when it’s hard. Fill me with peace in knowing that even if I take a wrong turn, Your purpose will prevail. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Father, I am so sorry for the way I complain about my circumstances. Please forgive me for my bad attitude when things don't go my way. I want to see Your hand in every part of every day - good or bad. Help me learn how to face every storm with confidence, knowing that You really are in control even though I cannot hear Your voice or see Your hand at work. In Jesus Name, Amen.
