A few moments from our Street Smart Upstarts session at Vic Yards.

This is where young people get to explore entrepreneurship in a practical way, asking questions, sharing ideas, learning useful tips and building the confidence to start small.

SSU is about helping young people see that entrepreneurship is not only about having a big business idea.

It is also about problem-solving, creativity, self-belief and learning how to create value from where you are.

Small starts. Big possibilities.

Digital inclusion is not only about access to technology. It is also about the skills, confidence, support systems and partnerships that enable people to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.

Today at the Digital Inclusion Summit South Africa 2026, our very own Zinhle Phakathi will be moderating Panel 3: Bridging the Digital Skills Gap.

This conversation brings together voices from across the ecosystem to explore how South Africa can move from awareness to access to adoption, and how digital skills can help unlock opportunity for more people, especially young people.

We are proud to see Lucha Lunako represented in this important national conversation, and we wish Zinhle and all the panellists a powerful and impactful discussion.

All the best, Zinhle!

Day 1 of Street Smart Upstarts at Vic Yards.

A new cohort. New ideas. New possibilities.

Through SSU, young people begin exploring entrepreneurship in a practical way, learning how to spot ideas, build confidence, think differently about opportunity and take small steps toward creating value.

This is only the beginning.

Small starts. Big possibilities.

Ending the week with a few moments that remind us why we do this work.

Over the past month, we’ve had the opportunity to be in rooms filled with learning, conversation, creativity, collaboration and young people showing up with energy, courage and possibility.

From programme sessions to partner engagements, campus visits, behind-the-scenes moments and shared spaces of growth, each interaction forms part of the bigger story we are building at Lucha Lunako.

Youth development is not only found in the final outcomes.

It is also found in the small moments:
the conversations,
the confidence being built,
the ideas being tested,
the relationships being formed,
and the belief that grows when young people are given space to participate.

Here’s to the people, partners and participants who continue to make this work meaningful.

B-BBEE spend should not end at compliance.

For corporates, Consumer Financial Education is an opportunity to do more than meet scorecard requirements. When designed and implemented properly, it can support audit-ready compliance, measurable financial education outcomes and meaningful social impact.

GN500 compliance has raised the bar by requiring Consumer Financial Education initiatives to demonstrate rigorous design, targeted delivery and independent evaluation.

Lucha Lunako’s GN500-compliant Consumer Financial Education offering helps corporates move from box-ticking to business value, aligning transformation priorities with practical financial capability, youth development and measurable behavioural change.

Something exciting is on the way.

We’re preparing to launch a new campaign spotlighting the SportSmart Futures Programme, a campaign rooted in growth, opportunity and real stories of impact.

Through this campaign, we’ll be sharing how sport can become more than a game. It can become a space where young people build confidence, discipline, leadership, self-belief and practical skills that support their journey into opportunity.

We can’t wait to share the stories, insights and moments behind this work.

Being part of conversations about employability, skills development and social impact matters, especially when those conversations bring together higher education, industry, civil society and young people.

Lucha Lunako was proud to participate in the BRAG Employability & Social Impact Summit 2026 at the University of Johannesburg, hosted under the theme: Reimagining Employability: Skills, Systems, and Social Impact.

The summit created space for meaningful engagement around the future of work, workforce readiness, evolving career pathways and the role of partnerships in expanding opportunity for students and graduates... For us, this work sits at the heart of what we do.

Engaging with students, graduates, academics, employers and ecosystem partners at UJ was a valuable reminder that employability is not shaped by one sector alone. It requires collaboration, innovation and a shared commitment to building systems that help young people move from potential to participation.

Thank you to the University of Johannesburg for creating a platform that brings these important conversations and initiatives into focus.

I have it. You have it. The youth have it.

At Lucha Lunako, this is more than a tagline. It is the belief that guides our work.

We believe young people already carry potential, creativity, resilience, ideas and the ability to shape their own futures. Our role is to create the spaces, programmes and support systems that help them recognise it, strengthen it and use it.

Through youth-centred learning, skills development, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work-readiness programmes, we work with young people to build confidence, unlock agency and create pathways to meaningful economic participation.

Because the future is not something young people are waiting for.

They are already carrying it.

Young people are navigating more than one pathway to opportunity. They are engaging with formal work, side hustles, gig work, entrepreneurship, informal trade, digital platforms and social media-led income opportunities, often at the same time. This is the reality of the multi-economy generation.

At Lucha Lunako, we believe youth development must respond to this reality. It is not enough to prepare young people for one version of work. We need to help them build the confidence, adaptability, self-awareness and practical skills to participate across different spaces of opportunity.

Our latest article, “Integrating the Multi-Economy Generation,” explores what this means for employers, funders, youth development organisations and ecosystem partners.
