📣 CALLING ALL SCHOOLS IN THE ILEMBE / KWADUKUZA AREA

YOT Kids is excited to invite schools to take part in our Term 3 Pilot Project of our Children’s Social Emotional Learning Programme.

We are looking for passionate schools and teachers who want to help create connected, emotionally safe, and regulated classroom environments where children can truly thrive.

This pilot includes:

✨ Completely FREE participation for schools
✨ Initial teacher training session at the start of the term
✨ Fortnightly online check-ins for ongoing implementation support
✨ All programme resources provided
✨ Clinical, hands-on support as teachers embed the programme in their classrooms

This is a collaborative pilot designed to support teachers step-by-step as they bring social emotional learning into everyday classroom practice.

If your school is committed to building calmer, more connected learning spaces, we would love to hear from you.

📩 To express interest or find out more, please contact us at: [email protected]

Let’s work together to create classrooms where children feel safe, seen, and ready to learn.

🎪🐻 Meet Little Circus Bear! 🐻🎪

We are so excited to introduce the newest protagonist in our YOT story collection — and we already adore him! 💛

Little Circus Bear is here to help children discover the power of a growth mindset: learning that mistakes are part of learning, challenges help us grow, and “I can’t do it… yet!” can become “I did it!”

His story is still being brought to life, and we can’t wait to share it with you. A huge thank you to the incredibly talented Rebekah Kendal, whose beautiful illustrations are helping Little Circus Bear leap right off the page and into our hearts. ✨

Stay tuned as we follow Little Circus Bear on his journey of courage, perseverance, and believing that with practice, we can learn new things every day.

At YOT, we believe regulation isn’t something separate from learning — it’s the foundation for it. 🌱

Our programme is designed to give teachers practical skills, strategies and tools to embed regulation into everyday classroom routines in ways that feel natural, sustainable and supportive for both children and educators.

From transitions and movement breaks to connection, co-regulation and sensory-informed practices, we help create classrooms where children feel safe, connected and ready to learn. 💛

Because when regulation is woven into the rhythm of the day, everyone benefits.

This is the work.

At YOT, we don’t just focus on skills in isolation — we focus on the foundations that make learning possible. Regulation. Safety. Connection. When a child feels safe in their body, curious in their mind, and supported in relationship, everything else can begin to unfold.

Through our sensory-motor and mindfulness work, and school-based support, we aim to help create classrooms that truly feel like those “islands of safety” — spaces where children can understand their bodies, navigate their emotions, and build the resilience they need for the world beyond the school gates.

Because learning doesn’t start with academics. It starts with feeling safe enough to learn.

Last week we had the privilege of presenting to members of Citizen Leader Lab's 10th Leaders for Education co-hort on the North Coast (previously Partners for Possibility) — a remarkable community of school and business leaders committed to creating better education spaces for children in South Africa.

There is something deeply humbling about watching people at the very top of their organisations get down on the floor, move, play, and use their bodies to learn about regulation — simply because they are committed to understanding how to build these practices into the school day for the children they serve.

This is what real leadership looks like. Curiosity. Humility. Willingness. Action.

When leaders embody the practices themselves, regulation stops being “one more thing to add” and becomes part of the culture. And that is where meaningful change begins.

Thank you to everyone in the room for showing up with such openness, engagement and care. It gives us hope for what is possible in our schools.

Thank you to Stanger Heights Primary School for hosting us 🙏

At YOT, each of our social-emotional learning stories is paired with a meaningful affirmation 💛

Because the stories we tell ourselves matter.

Affirmations are simple, powerful statements that help children build a kinder, more supportive inner voice. Over time, this positive self-talk becomes internalised — shaping how they see themselves, how they approach challenges, and how they regulate their emotions.

When children repeat affirmations, they’re not just “saying nice words” — they’re:✨ Strengthening self-belief✨ Building emotional resilience✨ Creating a sense of safety and predictability within themselves

In moments of overwhelm or uncertainty, these affirmations can become an anchor — something familiar and reassuring to come back to.

At YOT, we intentionally pair each story with an affirmation so children don’t just understand the concept… they feel it, practise it, and begin to carry it with them into everyday life.

Because every child deserves an inner voice that says: “I can do this.” 💫

Speaking the same language as the amazing Dr. Brad Johnson

This quote captures the heart of what we are building at YOT 🌱

It’s not just about what children know — it’s about how they feel, cope, connect, and grow.

At YOT, we intentionally create spaces where:
✨ movement is part of the learning
✨ big emotions are supported, not shut down
✨ children learn how to share, speak up, and solve problems
✨ resilience is gently built, moment by moment

Because when a child learns how to regulate themselves, everything else becomes more possible — learning, relationships, confidence, and wellbeing.

We believe these are not “extra” skills.
They are foundational.

And just like the quote says — these are the skills that carry children through life, long after early academic milestones have been forgotten.

This is the work. This is the why. 💛

⭐️ MEET THE FOUNDERS ⭐️

Meet Helen Weaver 🌿

Helen is one of the co-founders of YOT, bringing with her a depth of experience that is both powerful and deeply grounding. As a movement educator, mentor, mindfulness expert, and six-time South African freediving champion, she has spent over 25 years immersed in mind–body practices and personal development.

At the heart of Helen’s work is a profound understanding: our bodies don’t just move — they feel, hold, and process our emotional experiences. Through movement, children can begin to access, express, and integrate what words alone often cannot.

Within YOT, Helen leads the movement integration component of the programme, carefully shaping the embodied practices that anchor each story. Her work allows children to feel the tools they are learning — not just understand them — creating experiences that are lived, meaningful, and lasting.

Her approach is gentle, intuitive, and deeply respectful of each child’s inner world… reminding us that sometimes the most important learning happens not in the mind, but in the body.
