Hilltops Preschool Hilton, Pietermaritzburg Hilltops preschool is warm, play based learning environment where your children can learn and grow, where bare feet are encouraged and imaginations inspired.

Hilltops preschool is warm, happy environment where your children can learn and grow, where bare feet are encouraged and imaginations inspired! The school is a partnership between two dedicated moms and long- time, qualified teachers with a passion for children. Debbie Coombes and Angie Muggleton have combined their love for teaching with their desire to create a nurturing environment for children to develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually, teaching them to be both independent and accomodating of others. The school was started in 2012 with 6 children and has grown to currently house 70 children. There are four classes, one for ages 18 months to 2 years, one for 3-4 year olds, a grade RR and a grade R class. We are a team of 4 teachers and 2 assistants who are all passionate about teaching. Visit the school at any time of the day and see the children playing happily on the wide variety of outdoor equipment (that includes the much- loved big red boat) or racing around the track with their bikes. The staff provide a wide array of creative activities for the children to participate in and your child will be bringing home art works that are sure to take pride of place on any mantle piece, fridge or wall!

At our school, learning happens with muddy hands, dirty knees, sticks, leaves and big imaginations! 🤎

Our children are encouraged to play hard, get messy, explore nature and create their own adventures. Through this kind of play, they develop creativity, confidence, problem-solving skills and a deeper connection with the world around them.
Their team work, dedication and commitment have bloomed through as our kids have dug out tree stumps, made tunnels, dams, rivers and so on. We enjoy some rainy moments 🌦

🌊🐢 A Fin-tastic Way to End Our Sea Life Theme! 🪼

For the past two weeks, we have been learning all about sea life! 🌊🐠

To end our theme, we turned into starving turtles 🐢 and made our very own jellyfish to eat! 🪼🍝

These fun, hands-on activities allowed the children to consolidate their knowledge of sea life while developing their fine motor skills and life skills. Most importantly, they had so much fun creating, exploring and enjoying their delicious sausage and spaghetti jellyfish! 🥰

What a wonderful way to finish off two weeks of learning, discovery and ocean-inspired fun! 🌊💙🐢🪼
