After nearly two months of discussions, planning and collaboration, an exciting vision finally became a reality!

The St. Andrews Alumni Team, together with acting Vice Principal Miss Daniels, organised a special Career Day in partnership with the South African Institute of Civil Engineering (SAICE).

St. Andrews Secondary School had the privilege of welcoming a team of inspiring professionals, led by Mr Mkize, who spent time engaging with our learners about their future career opportunities and importantly, the subject choices that can help them get there.

Through the SAICE STAR initiative, learners were introduced to the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The programme aims to strengthen education and career guidance for high school learners through informative talks, practical projects and exposure to career possibilities.

One of the most valuable parts of the day was helping learners understand that the subjects they choose in Grade 10 can play an important role in opening doors to future careers. Learners were encouraged to think beyond simply choosing subjects and to start asking themselves:

“Where do I want to go, and what choices can I make today to help me get there?”

The afternoon was filled with fun, laughter and interaction. An energetic icebreaker got everyone involved while learners had the opportunity to answer questions and walk away with some exciting prizes.

A sincere thank you to SAICE, Mr Mkize and his team, Miss Daniels, the Alumni Team and everyone who played a role in making this opportunity possible.

Today was about opening young minds to possibilities they may never have imagined for themselves.

The future starts with the choices we make today.

Good afternoon Parents and Guardians

This serves as a reminder that attendance at all parent meetings is compulsory.

As previously communicated, schools are required to hold at least one parent meeting per term. These meetings are an important part of the partnership between the school and parents in supporting every learner's academic progress and well-being.

Parents and guardians are expected to make the necessary arrangements to attend, including requesting time off from work where possible. Failure to attend without a valid reason reflects a lack of commitment to your child's education and is a matter that the school takes seriously.

Parents and guardians of Grade 12 learners are reminded that attendance is non-negotiable. This is a crucial year, and your presence and support are essential as we work together to prepare our learners for the National Senior Certificate examinations.

We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to your attendance.
