Ancistrochilus rothschildianus, this is a small epiphytic orchid native to tropical Africa with distribution range of Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda to Guinea, Lion Rock Republic and other places, with an altitude of about 500-1100 meters above sea level. The root word of this genus is a combination of the Greek words ankistron (hook) and cheilos (lip), which means "hooked lip". It is named after lip are curled downward and shaped like a fish hook. This genus only contain two species, of the 2 which Ancistrochilus rothschildianus (Ancistrochilus rothschildianus) is the most beautiful one (personal opinion).

Just a list of some of the orchid suppliers in SA they all ate online. There are many orchid societies and groups around SA who's members sell orchids at very good prices so ask around near you first. At all orchid shows there are orchid for sale. Some nurseries also sell Cymbidiums, Catts and Phalaenopsis maybe the odd Oncidiums so phone around.

Aerangis distincta J.Stewart & la Croix, Kew Bull. 42: 217 (1987).

Aerangis distincta is a warm to cool growing, epiphyte from Malawi, Central Africa at elevations of around 650 to 1750 metres.

Paphiopedilum insigne is an Asian species of slipper orchid and the type species of the genus Paphiopedilum. Its name is derived from the Latin insigne, meaning 'badge of honor' due to the magnificent flower.

Angraecum clareae is a cool growing epiphyte from central Madagascar at elevations of around 1350 metres.
