Ancistrochilus rothschildianus, this is a small epiphytic orchid native to tropical Africa with distribution range of Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda to Guinea, Lion Rock Republic and other places, with an altitude of about 500-1100 meters above sea level. The root word of this genus is a combination of the Greek words ankistron (hook) and cheilos (lip), which means "hooked lip". It is named after lip are curled downward and shaped like a fish hook. This genus only contain two species, of the 2 which Ancistrochilus rothschildianus (Ancistrochilus rothschildianus) is the most beautiful one (personal opinion).

Some pic's of our first meeting of 2023 was well attended. Abraham giving a potting demo and two learner judge's assisted by judge's Bes and Abraham discussing the orchids on our plant table. Some stunning orchids from our members. Tea, coffee, drinks and eats was enjoyed by all after the demo and raffle drew. Abraham opened his green and hot house to the members.
