A Guiding Light for Every Girl
Just as sailors once navigated by the stars, Durban Girls’ College girls can look to the alumni who have gone before them as guiding lights.

Jenna is a leading South African elite long-distance and ultra-marathon runner, national champion, and prominent member of the Nedbank Running Club. Representing South Africa on the world stage, she has earned multiple podium finishes across major marathons and ultra-marathons throughout her distinguished career. Beyond her athletic achievements, Jenna is a dynamic professional who works as a coach and motivational speaker. She is also a proud mother of three, including a daughter who currently attends Durban Girls' College (DGC).

Our Aluminaries are women whose stories of courage, purpose and passion continue to light the way. Their journeys are as varied as they are inspiring—from professional achievements and daring career changes to making a difference through serving their communities, pursuing personal challenges and raising families.

Through their character, resilience and willingness to follow their own paths, our Aluminaries illuminate what is possible and inspire the girls of DGC to chart their own course.

We are delighted to welcome Dr Zakithi Mkhize as one of our Durban Girls’ College Aluminaries. Zakithi has been blazing trails as a medical scientist and holds a PhD in Virology from the HIV Pathogenesis Programme at UKZN and SANTHE.

Our Aluminaries are women whose stories of courage, purpose and passion continue to light the way. Their journeys are as varied as they are inspiring—from professional achievements and daring career changes to making a difference through serving their communities, pursuing personal challenges and raising families.

Save the date, Johannesburg alumnae! 💚
Our Executive Head, Mrs Heidi Rea, will be travelling to Johannesburg with the DGC 1st Water Polo Team as they compete in a tournament at St Stithians College from 22–25 October.

To mark the occasion, we would love to reconnect with our Johannesburg DGC community and invite alumnae from across the years to join us for an early evening gathering near St Stithians. Venue details will be confirmed soon.

Whether you matriculated recently or many years ago, we would love you to join us. You are also warmly invited to support our 1st Team during the tournament weekend.

This week, we reflect on building strong foundations at Durban Girls'
College, highlighted by the official unveiling of our new Synthetic
Sports Surface.
Inside, we also celebrate our leadership girls for inspiring recent
Chapel services, as well as outstanding achievements across Netball,
Equestrian, Squash, Music, Badminton, and Cricket—including Ziya
Mohanlall's prestigious Dolphins U19 Player of the Season award.

We would like to wish all the incredible fathers and father figures in
our community a very happy Father's Day! Thank you for walking beside
our girls, showing up consistently, and encouraging, guiding, and
championing them every step of the way.
