All Systems Go for the SADTU Special National Congress.

The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU) is ready to convene its Special National Congress on 7–8 August 2026 at the Birchwood Hotel and Conference Centre.

The Congress is convened in line with a resolution of the 6th National Congress, which resolved that should the South African Communist Party (SACP) contest elections, the Union must hold a Special National Congress to determine SADTU’s position on the matter.

A total of 1,272 delegates from all nine provinces will gather to deliberate on this important organisational matter.
