Today we as Women in Early Childhood Development Forum - Molweni hosted a successful "Child Protection Day" focused on creating awareness in our community. The event brought together different ECD centres, including Genesis Pre-school, as well as learners from the local primary school.
The day kicked off with an awareness walk from the Sport Field to the KwaDinabakubo hall. Learners, educators, parents, and community members walked together carrying messages of safety, care, and protection for every child. The walk set the tone for powerful conversations about the rights and safety of children.
Inside the hall, we continued with interactive sessions and talks on child protection, the role of parents and teachers, and how our community can work together to keep children safe from abuse and neglect.
A big thank you to Hillcrest SAPS, Molweni Taxi Association, Department of Health, Former Cllr Simphiwe Mncube, Metro Police the Molweni Lower Primary School and Dawede Primary School staff and learners, and everyone who showed up and spoke up for our children. Protecting our children is a shared responsibility, and today we took another step forward together 💚👣

We finalized the plan for our Child Protection Day with Constable Mbele 👮🏽♀️💚
We had a productive meeting at the station with Constable Mbele to put the final touches on our upcoming "Child Protection Day". It was inspiring to see the dedication and teamwork between community members and SAPS to keep our children safe.
We discussed key activities for the day, including awareness talks, safety tips for parents and learners, and how we can all work together to create a safer environment for every child.
A big thank you to Constable Mbele and the Hillcrest SAPS team for opening their doors and partnering with us on this important initiative. Protecting our children is everyone’s responsibility, and together we are stronger 💪🏽
