🏆 A historic first for Impaq.
Berveleen Nkomo placed 1st in the Western Cape in the Second Round of the 2026 Computer Applications Olympiad, out of over 5,000 learners who entered nationally, before finishing as runner-up in the National Finals.
This marks the first time an online school has placed in the top 3 nationally in this Olympiad, a genuine milestone for Impaq.

🥇 An Impaq Home School past pupil won gold at the Commonwealth Games.
Lara van Niekerk defended her Women's 50m Breaststroke title in Glasgow, coming back from a difficult few years of illness and injury to reclaim the top of the podium. Lara completed her school career through Impaq, once telling us: "Receiving a good education through Impaq and being able to manage my schooling around my swimming and training has helped me a lot.“

Meet Teacher Aimee Wessels, our English teacher who joined Impaq at the start of this year after eight years in the classroom. 📖
Her favourite part of the subject is literature analysis, and what she hopes every learner takes away is her genuine love of reading.
"They are so sweet and caring, and the stories they have to tell me surprise me in new ways every single day.“
Her advice to learners? Read as much as you can. Vocabulary, general knowledge, punctuation- it all comes from the page.
Optimi is looking for passionate, qualified FET Educators to join our College SA learning centres across South Africa. If you've got the experience and the drive to make a real difference in learners' lives, we want to hear from you.
What you'll need:
• BEd or PGCE in a relevant subject
• Current SACE registration
• Minimum 5 years' FET teaching experience (3+ years at Grade 12 level)
• Strong CAPS knowledge
• Own transport and willingness to travel
• Computer literacy and a clear criminal record
The setup:
• 2 days a week, 2-3 weeks per month
• 8am-4pm
• Compensated hourly
We have opportunities in multiple provinces, covering subjects like English, Mathematics Literacy, Geography, Business Studies, History, Afrikaans and IsiZulu.
