Yes, it is in Afrikaans and is very worth getting someone to translate it for you if you cannot read it yourself. See it is worth rocking the boat with a strongly worded letter or two; we cannot let misinformation and sensationalism negate the necessary and good work being done. Please share this article far and wide and let the truth be known, good news does not travel as far and fast as bad news.

Good day,
I am sure some, if not most of you, have seen or been sent the article by the Daily Investor entitled:

‘Historic 134 year old South African museum abandoned and completely empty’. Daily Investor - 24 February 2026. (https://dailyinvestor.com/property/121190/historic-134-year-old-south-african-museum-abandoned-and-completely-empty/)

I wrote a letter to the editor on the 25th of February 2026, and, as expected, did not get any response, as they have achieved what they wanted to with the falsehoods in this piece. As they have had ample time to respond or, as requested, publish my letter, I am now sharing my letter with you, and also on every post that has shared this article. The blatant racism and division this piece has created is sickning and I, for one, am extremely tired of seeing heritage used for cheap sensationalism by the media.

Please feel free to share my response with those who sent the article to you or where you see it shared or published.
Yours
Karin

This past weekend HeritageworX , along with our colleagues from Ubique Heritage Consultants and Archaetnos went to Bela Bela to see where we can assist Bela Bela Heritage in their mission. It was a fantastic weekend filled with good archaeology, productive talks, and lots of good cheer.
