The School Governing Body of Zwaanswyk Academy invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Foundation Phase Teachers Assistant.

🏫 Foundation Phase

Applicants should have a passion for working with young children, good communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in an ECD environment will be advantageous.

As part of our school’s 50th birthday celebrations, a group of our learners and staff had the privilege of visiting Red Cross Hospital this past week to donate much-needed items.

We were warmly welcomed by the hospital staff, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation. Knowing that these donations will make a meaningful difference to the children and families they serve reminds us that even the smallest act of kindness can have a lasting impact.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped us celebrate this milestone by giving back to our community. ❤️🎉

On Monday, 31 July, we bid a heartfelt farewell to Ms McDonald after seven years of dedicated service to our school.
An inspiring educator and the creative mind behind many of our social media posts and posters, Ms McDonald has left a lasting impact on our school community.
As she begins an exciting new chapter, we wish her every success and happiness. Thank you for everything, Ms McDonald. You will be greatly missed, and we wish you all the best on this exciting new journey! ❤️✈️

👣 67 Steps of Kindness

Zwaanswyk Academy invites our learners, families and community members to join us for a special community walk celebrating Mandela Day and Women’s Day.

Walking in Mandela’s footsteps, empowering women with dignity.

📍 Venue: Zwaanswyk Academy
📅 Date: Saturday, 8 August 2026
⏰ Time: 08:00–10:00

Entry fees:
Adults and children aged 13+: R30
Children under 13: R15

Tickets can be purchased at the school or through the Karri app.

Funds raised will help us build bookshelves and donate books to learners at an underprivileged school.

We are also supporting a Women’s Dignity Drive. Please bring a pack of sanitary pads to assist women who do not have regular access to menstrual products.

✨ Celebrating 50 Years of Our Home ✨

On Friday, 31 July 2026, Zwaanswyk Academy proudly celebrated 50 years at our current premises with a memorable Gala Dinner.

The evening brought together staff, parents, former educators, alumni, school governors, community leaders and friends of the school. It was a beautiful celebration filled with laughter, music, reflection and the unmistakable sense of belonging that defines the Zwaanswyk community.

Our Principal, Mr Anthony Adams, welcomed guests with his characteristic warmth and humour, while our master of ceremonies, Mr Duran Timm, also a educator at our school guided, the evening with energy and charm. Guests were also entertained by a talented young band, and CapeTalk host Sarah-Jane delivered a heartfelt address and proposed a toast to the school.

We were also honoured to welcome Circuit Manager Mrs Leonie Jacobsen as part of this special celebration.

As we celebrate 50 years at our current home and 130 years of educational history, we honour every learner, parent, staff member and community member who has contributed to our journey.

From chalkboards and vintage resources to stories of the past, every display reminded us how far we've come.

One of the most special moments was the burial of our 50th Anniversary Time Capsule in the garden at the front of the school. Filled with keepsakes from our learners today, it will remain sealed for the next 50 years—a gift to the future and a reminder of the community we are so proud to be part of.

Here's to honouring our past, celebrating our present, and inspiring the generations still to come. 💛🎉🌳
