📢 VACANCY | INTERSEN PHASE TEACHER’S ASSISTANT

Zwaanswyk Academy invites enthusiastic candidates with a passion for working with children to apply for a Teacher’s Assistant position in our Intersen Phase.

📌 Position: Permanent
📅 Starting date: 1 January 2027
🏫 Grades: 4–7

The successful candidate will support teachers with daily classroom activities, assist learners during lessons and help create a safe, caring and engaging learning environment.

Applicants must have Matric and be studying towards an education qualification. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, while experience in a school environment will be advantageous.

📢 VACANCY | INTERSEN PHASE EDUCATOR – GRADES 4–7

The School Governing Body of Zwaanswyk Academy invites suitably qualified, enthusiastic educators to apply for a permanent teaching position in our Intersen Phase.

📌 Position: Permanent
📅 Starting date: 1 January 2027
🏫 Subjects: English HL, Afrikaans FAL, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Life Skills.

Applicants must be CAPS trained and SACE registered, with strong classroom management skills and a commitment to inclusive teaching. Excellent computer literacy, a collaborative approach and a willingness to contribute to sporting or cultural activities are essential.

💜 STANDING TOGETHER AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

Tomorrow, Zwaanswyk Academy invites our school community to stand in solidarity with women and children affected by gender-based violence.

Please join us in wearing black as ZWA Staff gather at the side of the road for a peaceful, silent protest from 07:30–07:50.

Together, we can send a clear message: our community stands against violence and supports the safety and dignity of women and children.

🐪✨ WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN! 🇪🇬✨

This term, our Grade 5 learners travelled back in time to the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt! 🏺👑

Throughout the term, we explored the mighty Nile River, discovered the different levels of Ancient Egyptian society, learned about powerful Pharaohs, and uncovered the mysteries surrounding Pyramids and Temples. 📚🌊🏛️

But yesterday, learning came to life! 🎉 Our Grade 5s swapped their school uniforms for some amazing Egyptian-inspired outfits and truly dressed the part!

From Pharaohs and queens to Egyptian gods and creative costumes, our learners certainly brought the ancient world into the present day. 👑✨

It was a fun-filled way to consolidate what we’ve learnt, celebrate our learners’ creativity, and remind ourselves that learning can be both educational AND fun! ❤️📚

A huge thank you to our wonderful Grade 5 learners and parents for embracing the theme and making yesterday so memorable!

🏺 Ancient Egypt may be thousands of years old… but today, our Grade 5s made it come alive! 🐫👑

🌸 A period should never take away a child’s dignity. 🌸

During Women’s Month, the Zwaanswyk Academy Awareness Committee collected sanitary towels and hygiene products to support learners in our community.

This week, our learners had the privilege of delivering these donations to Westlake Primary School and Steenberg High School. Along the way, they learnt an important lesson: that many of the things we take for granted are not available to everyone, and that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Thank you to every family who donated pads, soap, toothpaste, deodorant and other essentials. Because of your generosity, we were able to help create a more dignified period and a more dignified life for others. 💗

Together, we uplift. Together, we empower. Together, we make a difference.

The School Governing Body of Zwaanswyk Academy invites suitably experienced candidates to apply for the position of Groundsman.

📌 Position: Permanent
📅 Starting Date: 1 October 2026
🏫 Department: Maintenance
💰 Salary: R7 000 per month

We are seeking an honest, reliable and hands-on individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced school environment.

Key responsibilities include general campus maintenance, gardening, maintaining sports fields, basic landscaping, reporting repairs, managing tools and consumable stock, and supporting school events, security and access control when required.

✅ MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Valid driver’s licence, preferably Code 10
• At least three years’ experience in a similar position
• An eye for cleanliness and neatness
• Ability to work under pressure and as part of a hardworking team
• Good communication skills and a respectful, presentable manner
• Commitment to education, learner safety and the values of the school
• Clear criminal and credit records

“To celebrate a woman is to celebrate the very foundation of strength, grace, and progress.”

On Friday, 28 August Zwaanswyk Academy, Zwaanwyk High School and St James Primary staff came together for an afternoon of spoils. The male staff members of each school served the women as they enjoyed drinks, snacks, music and great company, while acknowledging the phenomenal role our women play in our schools and community.
