HISTORY
During 1994 the need for a “Females Only” madrassah in Cape Town was identified where Muslim females could reside and learn in an Islamic environment with strict hijab (segregation) facilities. Hence, an institute of this nature was suggested. Other such learning centers in South Africa were only available in Johannesburg. Alhamdulillah, after consulting leading Ulamaa’ around the country and receiving their wise council and blessings, Madrassah Fatima taz-Zahra for Advanced Traditional Islamic Studies was established in 1994.Initially, learning took place at the Goolhurst Islamic Centre In Cape Town with a total of twenty students. As the madrassah evolved over the years, logistics and the increase in numbers demanded a change of venue. The madrassah now has its own premises in Ottery. Alhamdulillah, a hifth department was added in the year 2013 and has received an overwhelming response. The madrassah now hosts a total of 42, students, 8 teachers and 2 house mothers
