BORN Free S.A Youth Academy

Lee-Ann Du Plooy and Melanie Rooks facilitated a “Crossing the line” session which was all about reflection, identity awareness and breaking stereotypes.

Everyone stood in a line while Lee-Ann and Melanie took turns to pose questions to the group. If the question applied to them or they could relate to what was said, they could take a step forward. If not, they had to stay in position.

“The aim of this activity is to help you learn about yourself and reflect on your self- and cultural identity. This will allow you to appreciate the diversity and learn to treat your fellow participants like the diverse human beings that we are.”

The small groups then came together in the large group to discuss and share their points.

The green team’s point of discussion was “Effect change”.
