So we know that as a result of the Family Values Conference in Ghana we are seeing an increase in the criminalising of organising, advocacy and “”activities”” promoting LGBTQI+ rights. We know that these kinds of violences make being a q***r human illegal and unsafe. We are wanting to support our African siblings by getting your voices amplified as much as possible so that solidarity can meet you where you are. Please DM us if you have ideas of how we can show up for you as QFFF using our platform. Sending love your way and powerful hexes on the powers that be.

Speaking of new looks we are have been digging through our archive and wanted to celebrate the many humans who have made QFFF possible! This is a poetic justice offering that was created by Phelisa Sikwata who was a volunteer in 2018 and subsequently offered their gifts to our festival as a creator and facilitor. Thank you to Phelisa and other siblings who have shared, created and co-curated with us over all of these years. Be sure to follow for more from Phelisa on her substack https://substack.com//note/p-192489231?r=38hkaj&utm_source=notes-share-action&utm_medium=web We love you! We are because you are.

On the 23rd May 2026, we were priviledged to be in an intergenerational conversation with 4 powerful q***r humans. Their childhood struggles and learning to navigate the world as trans womxn is an experience that is shared by many. Storytelling we believe is one of the most powerful tools for resistance, connection building and reclaimation. We are facing a world that wants to unalive us and deny our very existence...Storytelling is our push back, our protest and our affirmation of all q***r humans globally. Our stories matter and they carry weight! Thanks to Jesse, Brianne, Waleed & Thami for your vulnerabilty and openess.

This week has been laced with heavy, hard and jarring realities in the world for q***r and other marginalised peoples. We choose softness and artistic vibrations to wash over us and cleanse our path for the new week. A special thanks to Darion Adams, Marchelino Brown and Bronwyn February for their contribution to QFFF over the past few years. Yalls are flourishing and by extension this gives us hope, pride and renewal. This creation entitled “”Reclamation”” was performed and directed by Darion. Thank you for sharing this piece with us and allowing us to support your journey sibling!
