We're turning the conversation over to you for World Atopic Eczema Day.

Over 230 million people worldwide live with atopic eczema (also called atopic dermatitis)—but too often, it's dismissed as "just a rash."

We know it's so much more than that.

It is a chronic condition that warrants greater public awareness, more effective policies, and improved care.
That's why it matters to have time with an expert to answer your questions.

This 14 September, we're joining the Global Allergy & Airways Patient Platform to bring expert dermatologists from around the globe directly to you. Here's how it works:

1️⃣ Ask your question in the comments below—about symptoms, triggers, treatments, mental health, or anything else on your mind.
2️⃣ Come back on 14 September to watch our expert dermatologists answer your questions in video replies on and our socials.

No question is too big or too small. Whether you're a patient, a caregiver, or just curious—we want to hear from you.

Stay prepared: take your controller daily, keep your reliever inhaler close and monitor daily symptoms.

NAEP is proud to be involved with asthma awareness within the Ngwelezana community.

The event was well attended by patients, caregivers, and healthcare workers. Participants received education on:

• Understanding asthma and its symptoms.
• Correct inhaler technique through practical demonstrations.
• The difference between reliever and preventer inhalers.
• Identifying and avoiding asthma triggers.
• The importance of medication adherence and regular follow-up.

Lung function test (spirometry) screening where appropriate were also conducted, and participants' questions answered. This helped many gain a better understanding of their respiratory health.

The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed appreciation for the practical education and reported feeling more confident about understanding asthma.

We spend more time indoors in winter, which means more exposure to dust, mould, pet dander and heater related dryness.

Reduce triggers by:

• Opening windows for 10 minutes a day
• Cleaning heaters and filters
• Washing bedding weekly
• Reducing dust and clutter
• Keeping pets out of bedrooms

Small changes can make breathing easier.
