PROFILE
The crèche began with four children in 2017 and two volunteer assistants, and by the end of 2019 there were twenty five children enrolled and four staff member, including a qualified teacher, funded privately.
During lockdown of the Covid 19 pandemic in 2019, the staff of SFEL were sponsored by Community Action Network (CAN) C and ran a daily soup kitchen feeding over two hundred and fifty children and adults from the community
Since our reopening of our educare in July 2021 after closure during Covid ’19 Lockdown, our numbers have risen to thirty two children. We now care for eleven children in the infant and toddlers (from 0 to 2 years) and provide care, daily instruction and supervised play for children from 3-5 years old in both English and IsiXhosa. Two of the staff members have qualified at the local False Bay College with certificates to improve their Educare skills.
