Ubuntu Education

Ubuntu Education Teachers: join the Ubuntu Hub to connect, learn, access opportunities, and share your voice across Africa. At Ubuntu, we do things differently.

Organisations: engage teachers through insight, visibility, feedback, and meaningful connection with our educator community. We believe that there is a smarter way of improving education for children attending African schools. We don’t believe in traditional educational ‘aid’ or handouts, but instead, dignified partnerships that enable African schools to determine markers of success and strategic development in their own contexts, on their own terms. At Ubuntu we disrupt the status quo in education on the continent by facilitating this development, and we are the first Edtech company to do so. We are also proud to actively work towards the UN SDG4 goal “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”

Welcome to a new month! 🌍💚

This October, one conversation we’re looking forward to in the Ubuntu Hub is "Teaching in the Age of AI: The Human Edge" - our Annual Conference happening 21–22 October 2026.

As AI continues to find its way into our classrooms, this is a chance to pause and ask: What does this mean for teaching and learning? And what remains uniquely human?

If that’s a conversation you’d like to be part of, we’ll love to see you there.

Early bird registration is still available at $30 for education ecosystem stakeholders until 7th of October.

AI is already changing the classroom. The bigger question is: what do we want that change to look like?

That’s what we’ll be exploring at "The Human Edge: Teaching in the Age of AI" conference not just the tools, but the bigger questions around how AI can support teachers, what it means for learners, and what we need to keep firmly human.

From practical ideas you can take into your classroom to conversations about AI in the African education context, there’s plenty to explore.

And you don’t need to be an AI expert to join the conversation.

It's happening 21–22 October, 2026 and it's free for teachers.

Our Annual Conference is back and this year we're tackling the question every educator is asking: what does AI mean for the classroom, and where does human agency still centred?

In this conference, expect inspiring keynotes, practical workshops you can take straight back to your classroom, panel discussions on AI & education, and real tools you can start using immediately.

It's free for teachers. For education ecosystem professionals, early bird registration is $30 until 30 September, after which the full price will be $60.

If you work in Education, EdTech, or Policy, this is where great conversations are happening.

Teacher workload is one of the biggest threats to retention, wellbeing, and classroom impact across African schools - and most edtech is built without that reality in mind.

The Marking App is different. Built by a former teacher out of his own frustration with marking, it's already being used by 100+ schools and 1,000+ teachers across South Africa, with two universities now piloting it.

Join us live on the Ubuntu Hub on Wednesday 7 October, 3:00 PM SAST/CAT for a demo of how it scans, marks, and analyses a full class set of tests in seconds- plus an open Q&A with founder Kabelo Mahlobogwane on data protection, compliance, and what it takes to bring this into your school.

Bring a colleague. Better yet, bring your school leader.
It's free to attend and open to all Ubuntu Hub members.

AI is changing education. Great teachers are shaping what comes next.

As artificial intelligence becomes part of classrooms around the world, one question matters more than ever:

What is the human edge in teaching?

This year, the Ubuntu Education Conference will bring together educators from across Africa to explore how teachers can embrace AI while continuing to do what only great teachers can do - build relationships, inspire curiosity, develop critical thinking, and create meaningful learning experiences.

This conference is designed to help you navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead alongside a community of educators who are asking the same questions.

The best part? It's completely free for teachers.

We are opening Registration for Teachers today. As you register you can become a Hub member, and stay up to date with conference updates. More details dropping soon.

📣 Klapp is back with another Solutions Session on the Ubuntu Hub today!

Strong communication doesn't happen by chance. It's built through consistent conversations, clear systems, and trust.

In today's session, we'll explore what effective communication looks like in schools and why it matters for teachers, learners, parents, and school leaders alike.

You'll hear practical insights from Bianca Meiring, Director of Little Legends Preparatory School, and join a discussion on building a communication culture that strengthens school communities. We'll also look at how tools like Klapp can help schools communicate more effectively at scale.

Whether you're a school leader, teacher, or decision-maker, you'll leave with practical ideas you can put into practice and a handy communication cheat sheet to take back to your school.

We look forward to learning with you today!
