BIG NEWS for mathematics education in South Africa 🥁
The JumpStart Foundation is now the new home of the NumberSense and MathsSense Mathematics Programmes, as a JumpStart-led consortium has acquired Brombacher & Associates (B&A), the company that created NumberSense. This will secure the programme's growth, stability and impact for 2026 and beyond!
Though JumpStart and B&A share a mission to actively improve foundational mathematics outcomes in classrooms across South Africa, we will remain separate legal entities. That means, we each keep our existing teams, leadership and operational models. So, for schools, partners and suppliers, it is very much business as usual, with strengthened reach!

The NumberSense team are in Gqeberha and had the privilege of meeting the team. one of the NumberSense team recently completed where she received a personalized postcard from a pupil at Heatherbank. Because of this postcard, NumberSense invited the Heatherbank teachers to attend the Gqeberha workshop. There Mel got to meet Miss Lauren who was the teacher of the pupil who wrote the postcard - full circle! Thanks for the nice touch and we look forward to seeing how we can support the from here ❤️
