Yesterday was all about engagement with our wise and opinionated future leaders about "What makes up a leader."

The SUBIDA team was truly inspired by the opportunity to hear learners views on what constitutes a leader. Great incites were shared during this session.

If that wasn't enough excitement the team had a motivational session with some of the learners offering a platform for encouragement and inspiration.

We look forward to inciting more discussion, debate, inspiration and motivation with learners in the coming sessions.

The SUBIDA team held an insightful leadership session with learners entitled "How do you see yourself?"

The aim of the session was to convey the important message that one's self perception will determine the measure which one can produce.

Learners where given the opportunity to share their reflections and challenged to interrogate how these views influence their actions and possibilities.

We at SUBIDA believe in the potential of young leaders and seek to motivate students to have positive perceptions of themselves and their potential. With an earnest belief in one's abilities the possibilities are limitless.

The world is in need of key leaders. Don't look around for someone you think can lead. Look at yourself. The greatest answers in life, are within. You are a leader. All that is needed is for you to see it and believe it!

The Subida team engaged a brilliant group of students last Saturday 21st in a session entitled "Leading in uncomfortable situations."

The aim: was to ensure the young leaders get to experience what leadership really involves. And to give them a opportunity to exercise their leadership skills, enhance their critical thinking and boost their confidence by asking them to stand for what they believe in.

How was the aim achieved?: A mock South African parliamentary debate was facilitated. The motion was: "does the South African government do much to prevent Youth unemployment". The topic is truly relevant as SA has the 3rd largest youth unemployment rates in the world. The young leaders were divided into two groups: 1. Government and 2. Opposition. The rules were however made up. The young leaders were given limited time to discuss within themselves and come up with solutions.

What we wanted to voice out was that as a leader sometimes you will be required to think on your feet within a limited span of time, or to make decisions difficult decisions.

It was a truly exciting session as the students were enthusiastic and truly motivated to contribute and learn.

"You cannot be a leader without a vision"

What a phenomenal leadership session held at the University of the Free State south campus in partnership with the Monyetla Bursary Project, last week Saturday in the beautiful city of Bloemfontein.

A lot of learners attended,but pictures could not be taken inside the building,due to load shedding...but even Eskom couldn't eliminate the excitement and energy of the young charismatic leaders-waiting to part of our leadership program.

Please note that the pictures and the video taken outside was due to the fact that the auditorium did not allow for a video nor pictures to be taken due to the darkness, and the number of the people outside does not give a true reflection of the exact number who attended. More than 100 learners attended on the 14/02/2015. However, pictures which were taken on the 7/02/2015 are also provided below.

We cannot wait for this week!!! Stay hungry, stay excited!!!

The Upliftment team would like to share three highly important and exciting announcements:

Firstly Upliftment has officially changed its name to Subida meaning "Upliftment" in Spanish. We are still a business with the same vision and mission but with a new name to set this unique initiative apart from all others.

Secondly Subida has partnered up with the Monyetla Bursary Project headed my Mr. C.R Grobler. The project has served for many years assisting in identifyIng exceptional Grade 12 learners and assist them in qualifying for bursary opportunities to fund their tertiary education.
Subida will be conducting leadership programs in the Freestate for learners from 35 Schools these programs will run from the 7th of February 2015 to the end of August 2015 at Vista, the University of the Free State South Campus.

The Subida team is truly excited about this new partnership as we strongly believe that the development of young leaders is critical for the strengthening and growth of South Africa.

Lastly Subida will be beginning with its online training programs, in Leadership, Entrepreneurship and personal upliftment, from February. The cost to sign up for the programs is R50 per month.
