Rooftops don't have to be boring; they're blank canvases waiting for creative transformation. Take, for instance, the Salesforce Transit Center rooftop. This architectural marvel in downtown San Francisco has a rich history and boasts a stunning design that sets it apart. Originally envisioned as the "Grand Central Station of the West," the transit center serves as a major transportation hub connecting various modes of travel, including buses, trains, and future high-speed rail. However, what truly distinguishes the Salesforce Transit Center is its rooftop park, known as Salesforce Park.
The park sits atop the transit center's expansive roof, spanning nearly five acres. It features lush greenery, vibrant gardens, walking paths, and even a playground, providing a serene escape from the bustling city below. But the design goes beyond aesthetics; it incorporates sustainable elements such as native plantings, efficient irrigation systems, and renewable materials, aligning with San Francisco's commitment to environmental stewardship.
Moreover, the Salesforce Park rooftop isn't just a static space; it hosts a variety of events, including yoga classes, concerts, and farmers' markets, fostering community engagement and enhancing the urban experience. From its inception, the rooftop park has been envisioned as a dynamic public space, redefining the concept of urban living and demonstrating the potential of rooftops as multifunctional assets in modern cities.

CDG SECTION
For this assignment, I created sections from my Cape Station design to illustrate the spatial layout and elements within a specific area. These sections were drafted using AutoCAD to accurately depict the dimensions and details. In my next submission for CDG3, I plan to enhance these sections by rendering them in Photoshop, adding visual depth and context to the design presentation.

What is a planting plan one may ask...
A planting plan is a detailed document used in landscape design and architecture that specifies the arrangement, types, and quantities of plants to be installed in a particular area. It typically includes information such as plant species names, quantities, sizes, spacing, and sometimes even specific planting instructions. Planting plans are essential for guiding the implementation of greenery within a landscape design, ensuring that the desired aesthetic, functional, and environmental goals are achieved. They serve as a roadmap for landscape contractors, gardeners, or property owners involved in the planting process.
for construction 3 I will be doing a planting plan using my plan from IDS

For my IDS project 3, I created a Sketchplan showcasing design principles from project 2: biodiversity, productivity, and recreational aspects. Using AutoCAD as the base, I depicted the layout. Next, I used Photoshop to render the design, emphasizing the integration of these principles into the final layout.

In this assignment, I will render the AutoCAD Sketchplan and Sections of my Green Roof from Assignments 1 & 2 in Photoshop. Similar to the Tutorial drawing process, I will export my Sketchplan and section lines only from AutoCAD on A1 size PDF Layouts and import them into Photoshop for rendering. My submission must include the following:
- Photoshop Sketchplan to scale (1:200/ 1:250/ 1:300)
- 2 or 3 Photoshop Sections to scale (1:25/1:20/1:50)
- Material annotations
- Sketchplans & Sections must include drawing conventions (titles/ captions, scale, legend)
I will ensure that the listed information is on A1 size layouts with proper titles/ captions. I'll export jpegs of the A1 Sketchplan and section layouts and submit both the Photoshop and Jpeg files onto Blackboard by the indicated date.

In my IDS project 3 presentation, I delved into the design concept and reasoning behind shaping the site as it was. While the experience was enjoyable, it also brought about stress. Designing can be mentally taxing, especially when ideas are elusive, leading to frustration and self-doubt. Yet, overcoming these challenges was rewarding. Positive feedback on my design and constructive suggestions for improvement validated my efforts.
Reflecting on the semester, it was demanding in terms of workload, and I've come to appreciate the complexity of this field. However, finding assurance in being on the right track helped mitigate the stress. I've gleaned valuable lessons from critiques and the work of my classmates. Collaboration, especially during study sessions, has been instrumental in my learning journey. I'm grateful for the support of our lecturers throughout. Despite the challenges and stress, I've gained a wealth of knowledge this semester.

Design Theory 3
For this assignment, I had to submit an essay draft on Xeriscaping. When writing an essay, it's essential to start with an abstract to provide a concise summary of the main points. Following that, an engaging introduction should be crafted to capture the reader's attention and set the stage for the detailed discussion.
Below are my pictures of my first draft

CDG SET OF PLANS
For this assignment, I created five sets of plans for my IDS rooftop design using AutoCAD. Mastery of basic AutoCAD tools was crucial for accurately translating my design concepts into detailed plans. Understanding fundamental tools such as drawing commands, layer management, object snapping, and dimensioning was essential for creating precise and professional-looking plans. These skills allowed me to effectively communicate my design ideas and ensure accuracy in my drawings.

In completing this assignment, I've developed a set of plans that will serve as the blueprint for rendering my sketch plan in Photoshop for my IDS project 3 presentation. Autocad can present challenges, particularly with hatchings, requiring meticulous attention to ensure seamless integration. These plans lay the groundwork for translating design principles effectively into visual representations.

Construction 3
The final planting booklet from the first draft is ready for presentation to the panel of moderators at the end of the semester. This comprehensive document showcases the planting plan for the project, incorporating research, conceptualization, and design principles. It highlights the selection of plant species, their placement, and the overall vision for the landscape. Through meticulous attention to detail and creative expression, the booklet demonstrates the depth of thought and expertise invested in the project. As a culmination of semester-long efforts, it reflects the dedication and commitment to excellence in landscape design.
