Meet Sfiso Tony Mkhize an LLB 3rd Year Student and our seventh Q***r Ambassador for South African Pride Month

“I’m a young, vibrant q***r man with a heart full of love for myself, for others, and for life. I believe that love, in all its forms, has the power to transform not only people, but entire systems. As a q***r person navigating the world with courage and compassion, I’ve learned that being seen, heard, and valued begins with how I see, hear, and value myself.

I carry my q***rness with pride not as a label, but as a living truth that shapes how I show up: bold, kind, resilient, and rooted in love. To love and be loved is revolutionary in a world that often tells us we’re too much or not enough. But I know that I am enough more than enough and I refuse to shrink to make others comfortable”.

Quote: If I wait for someone else to validate my existence, I risk denying the beauty of who I already am. I will not shortchange myself my truth is valid, my voice is powerful, and my existence is its own affirmation.

Meet Lebogang Mpherwane, a second-year LLB student and proud ally committed to promoting inclusion, equality, and social justice within our university community.

“As an ally, I believe that true progress begins with understanding, respect, and solidarity. Supporting others means using our voices and platforms to create spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and accepted for who they are. Inclusion is not just a goal. It is a shared responsibility that calls for awareness and action.

I am passionate about fostering an environment where diversity is embraced and where every student feels empowered to express their identity freely. Through collaboration and education, I aim to contribute to a culture that celebrates differences and stands firmly against discrimination in all its forms.”

Meet Khodani Mudau our fourth Q***r Ambassador for the month.

“I am a 2nd-year Law Student who proudly serves as a Q***r Ambassador and ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. I chose to join the Q***r Ambassador community because I believe that real change begins when we choose to stand up, speak out, and support those whose voices have been silenced or overlooked. As an ally, my mission is to create awareness, promote inclusivity, and help build safe spaces where everyone feels valued, respected, and free to express their identity without fear of discrimination or judgment. I am passionate about using my legal knowledge and influence to challenge injustice, foster equality, and inspire others to embrace diversity with empathy and understanding. For me, being part of this movement is more than a title ,it is a commitment to continuous learning, advocacy, and contributing to a society that celebrates love, respect, and humanity in all its forms”.

Meet Sinawo Makanda our third Q***r Ambassador for South African Pride Month.

“I believe in building a world where everyone can exist without apology, without fear, and without having to shrink themselves to fit into someone else’s idea of “normal.” For me, it is not just about tolerance but about true belonging — creating spaces where our voices, our love, and our identities are not only accepted but celebrated.

Our lives carry meaning beyond survival. They embody joy, creativity, and resilience, proving that even in the face of rejection or misunderstanding, we continue to thrive. I want to remind others that our existence is not just resistance to systems that try to erase us — it is a declaration of power, a source of healing, and a vision of freedom for generations to come.

When we live in our fullness, we teach the world that love has no boundaries, and that authenticity is the most radical and beautiful act of courage”.

Favourite qoute “Freedom is found in the courage to live as your true self.”

Meet Nosipho "Fire" Mlambo our first Q***r Ambassador who believes in advocating for Q***r and Woman Rights and driving for inclusion and transformation.

“I believe in freedom of expression. Everyone must express themselves who they are freely. I have zero intolerance of disrespect and dehumanising people because of their sexuality and in general because they don't meet the sociecital standards. If you wouldn't like it to be done to you, then don't do it to the next person. Talk and say what you'd like when it's said to you. We are all human, after all, whether you're homoxesual, q***r, heterosexual or non lable. Negative zero tolerance of patriarchy. The bullying of women must stop! Women representing must be submissive if they want and when it's their choice. Don't use culture and religion to bully women!”

Her everyday mantra - Let people live in peace and harmony.
