The Open Day event for students of the Department of English Language and Literature.
The students of the Department of English Language and Literature - Level Two held an open day event on Thursday, December 1st, 2022 under the supervision of the Head of the Department, Dr. Huda Saif and T. Sarah Al-Zubairy in Al-Thulaia Hall. The event was attended by the head of the department and a number of doctors and teachers, including: Dr. Amin Al-Mekhlafi, Dr. Saba Molhi, Dr. Abdo Ali, Mr. Nashwan, T. Mona Al-Zoghair, T. Sarah Al-Zubairy, T. Ahlam Hazbar, T. Buthaina Al-Shaibani, T. Amal Al-Sanea. Everyone praised the creativity of the students, which was tangible in today's activities. The event was presented in both Arabic and English by three wonderful students: Khadija Samir Al-Hareq, Rashid Ahmed, and Fatima Al-Bashiri. The activity began with the national anthem, then the Holy Quran, which was recited by: Basma and Jalila, after that the head of the department, Dr. Huda Saif gave a speech in which she spoke about the importance of such events, which the department is keen to hold, to be an outlet in which students express their ideas, show their creativity, and hone their talents. This was followed by a presentation in which the student, Sarah Samir, spoke about the nature and importance of English Language and Literature. The event included wonderful performances, starting with the creativity of the student, Muhammad Jamil, in a creative singing performance called Beat Box, then the comedy performance that talked about English and French by the students: Jihad, Omaima and Ayat. After that, a presentation about expectations was presented by: Ilham and Rana. This was followed by a wonderful sketch written by: Ilham Muhammad, and represented by: Ilham, Muhammad Al-Rifai, Suha Abdul Kafi, Marwan Muhammad, Amat Al-Rahman, Aisha Abdullah, Moayad Hassan. Then we were entertained by the voices of Rashid Ahmed and Muhammad Qaid with a song that talks about the students and their struggle during their studies. The event included several motivational speeches from the students: Belqis, Khairiya, Rawan, Sarah, Zainab, Asila, Riam, Lara. The highlight of the event was the play "Don't Reconcile", the idea of the play was brought out by the student Khadija Samir Al-Hareq, written and prepared by the student Muhammad Al-Rifai, and represented by: Khadija, Muhammad, Tariq, Maleka, Mubarak, Samar and Taher, which talked about the forgotten issue of Palestine. After that, the activities continued, including the food challenge by the students: Malak, Asma, Fatima and Arwa, and the poetic presentations by the two students: Taher and Jalila, and then a contest by: Riham, Sumaya, Nafisa. After that, a play about Yemen was performed. The idea was brought by the student: Simon, and the actors were: Simon, Raghad, Raeda, Rawan Rashad, Nafisa, Hala, Suzan, Hafsa. Then the students, Taher and Mulla, honored a number of their doctors and teachers in the first and second levels as thanks and appreciation for their efforts. The event was concluded with two singing sessions, in which students of the second level - Department of English Language and Literature participated in.

فعالية اليوم المفتوح الثقافية لطلاب قسم اللغة الإنجليزية وآدابها.

أقام طلاب قسم اللغة الإنجليزية وآدابها - المستوى الثاني فعالية اليوم المفتوح بإشراف رئيسة القسم د. هدى سيف وأ. سارة الزبيري في قاعة الثلايا صباح اليوم الخميس، الموافق ١ ديسمبر ٢٠٢٢م.
حضر الفعالية رئيسة القسم وعدد من الدكاترة والمدرسين منهم: د. أمين المخلافي، د. سبأ ملهي، د. أحمد طاهر د. عبدالقادر الخلي أ.عبده علي، أ. نشوان، أ. منى الزغير، أ.سارة الزبيري، أ. أحلام هزبر، أ. بثينة الشيباني، أ. أمل الصانع وقد أشاد الجميع بإبداع الطلاب الذي شاهدوه في فقرات فعالية اليوم.
قدّم الفعالية باللغتين العربية والانجليزية: خديجة سمير الحرق، رشيد أحمد، فاطمة البشيري. حيث ابتدأت الفعالية بالنشيد الوطني ثم آيات من القرآن الكريم تلته على مسامعنا الطالبتان: بسمة وجليلة، بعد ذلك ألقت رئيسة القسم د. هدى سيف كلمة تحدثت فيها عن أهمية مثل هذه الفعاليات التي يحرص القسم على إقامتها لتكون متنفساً يُعبّر فيه الطلاب عن أفكارهم ويُظهرون إبداعاتهم وتُصقل فيها مواهبهم وفي مقدمة ذلك ممارسة في جوانب غير الجانب الأكاديمي التعليمي. ثم تلا ذلك فقرة تحدثت فيها الطالبة سارة سمير عن ماهية وأهمية تخصص اللغة الإنجليزية وآدابها.
وتخللت الفعالية فقرات رائعة ابتداءً من إبداع الطالب محمد جميل في فقرة غنائية إبداعية "بيت بوكس"، ثم الفقرة الكوميدية التي تتحدث على اللغتين الإنجليزية والفرنسية من الطالبات: جهاد وأميمة وآيات. بعد ذلك قُدمت فقرة عكس توقعاتك من الطالبتين: إلهام ورنا. تلا ذلك الاسكتش الرائع من تأليف: إلهام محمد وتمثيل: إلهام، و محمد الرفاعي، سهى عبدالكافي، مروان محمد، أمة الرحمن، عائشة عبدالله، مؤيد حسان. ثم أطربنا الطالبان: رشيد أحمد ومحمد قائد بإنشودة تتحدث عن الطلاب وكفاحهم خلال دراستهم. كما تخللت الفعالية فقرات تحفيزية متعددة من الطالبات: بلقيس، و خيرية، و روان، و سارة، و زينب، و أصيلة، و ريام، و لارا.
وكانت أبرز فقرة في الفعالية مسرحية "لا تصَالُح" فكرة الطالبة خديجة سمير الحرق، و تأليف وإعداد الطالب محمد الرفاعي، و تمثيل كل من : خديجة ومحمد وطارق وملكة ومبارك وسمر وطاهر والتي تحدثت عن القضية المنسية *فلسطين*. وتواصلت بعد ذلك فقرات الفعالية من تحدي الأكلات للطالبات: ملاك وعصماء وفاطمة وأروى، والفقرة الشعرية للطالبين: طاهر وجليلة، ومسابقة من الطالبات: رهام، سمية، نفيسة. ثم مسرحية عن اليمن فكرة الطالبة: سيمون وتمثيل: سيمون، و رغد، و رائدة، و روان و رشاد، و نفيسة، و هالة، و سوزان، و حفصة.
ثم قام الطالبان طاهر وملأ بتكريم عدد من مدرسيهم في المستوى الأول والثاني كشكر وتقدير لهم على جهودهم المبذولة.
وكان ختام الفعالية بفقرتين غنائيتين شارك فيها طلاب المستوى الثاني - قسم اللغة الإنجليزية وآدابها.

برعاية قسم اللغة الإنجليزية - أقام طلاب كلية الأداب اليوم الأربعاء، تاريخ ٢٠٢٢/١١/١٦ طبقا خيريا؛ لدعم الطفل حسام والذي اصيب بتليف بالكبد، حيث كان الطبق مكونًا من الكثير من الأشياء: مأكولات متنوعةً وعدة، نقش، خط، رسم، كوافير وبراويز.

تفاعل العديد من الطلاب والدكاترة مع هذا العمل ماديًا ومعنويا وحث البعض على مثل هكذا اعمالًا خيرية تُعبر عن مدى تكاتف المجتمع ومدى المحبة التي بينهم.

*The Cultural Day Event*
This morning, Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Arts hosted a cultural event, which is prepared and performed annually by students of the Department of all levels and organized by the Department of English and Literature. The event was presented by the wonderful presenters, Hoyam, Alhussein and Abdullah. The event included many wonderful performances throughout the ceremony. It began with the national anthem followed by verses of the Holy Qur’an recited by the student, Aya. This was followed by a speech by the distinguished head of the department, Dr. Huda Saif, who spoke about the theme of the event and its importance and thanked all participants for their efforts to turn this event into a great success. The student Marwa sang a welcoming song for us, then we watched the creativity of the student Heba Al-Banna in designing an animated video. After that, we listened to two heart-moving poems by the two students, Safaa and Nesma followed by a short play about bullying and its effects written by the student Hanin, and acted by the first-level students Simon, Reham, Rawan, Sahar, Ahmed, Tariq and Hanin. We do not forget one of the most important performances in today’s event, “The Greatest Scourge”, written by the brilliant fourth-level student Alhussein bin Talal, translated by Zakaria Alamery, and acted by the gifted actors: Alhussein bin Talal, Badr Hamid, Safa Gameel, Doaa Alariqy , Mahmoud Shukry, Shaima, Abdul Khaleq, Sarah, Khalifa Alobeidy, Zakaria Alamery, Samar and Abdul Rahman. And again, we listened to a song by Marwa, and then a motivational speech by Samar. After that we listened to a performance comparing between Arabic and English literatures performed by Raghd and Imran. This was followed by a short comedy play entitled The Superwoman, written by Mohammed Alrefaei and acted by Muhammad, Tariq, Taher, Najm, Muhammad Al-Amri, Muhammad Jamil and Aya. Then, we listened to the importance of studying English language performed by Ghadeer Al-Kamel. Marwa and Aya had sung a beautiful song entertaining the audience. And, Lara and Rahma organized the clothing style show of the Yemeni traditional clothing styles and the English clothing styles performed by a group of the department's students. Before ending the event, Aisha presented a fun entertainment contest. The event was concluded with honoring the two winners of the poetry recitation and debate competitions, where Doaa won the debate competition and Raghd won the poetry recitation competition. Finally the students took souvenir photos with the person who was most credited with organizing the event, Dr. Huda Saif, the Head of the Department of English Language and Literature.

*فعالية الحفل الثقافي*
أقام صباح اليوم قسم اللغة الإنجليزية وآدابها في كلية الآداب فعالية الحفل الثقافي الذي يُقام كل عام بالتعاون بين طلاب القسم من جميع المستويات وبتنظيم من قسم اللغة الإنجليزية. استهل الحفل المقدمون الرائعون هُيام والحسين وعبدالله الفعالية التي تخللتها الكثير من الفقرات الرائعة. حيث ابتدأت الفعالية بالنشيد الوطني يتبعه القرآن الكريم تلته على مسامعنا الطالبة آية. تلا ذلك كلمة رئيسة القسم الدكتورة المتميزة هدى سيف الذي تحدثت فيها عن الفكرة العامة للفعالية وأهمية الحفل الثقافي خاصةً. أطربتنا الطالبة مروى بأنشودة ترحيبية ثم شاهدنا إبداع الطالبة هبة البنا بتصميم فيديو رسوم متحركة بأصوات الشخصيات لمجموعة من طلاب القسم. وبعد ذلك استمعنا إلى قصيدتين مؤثرتين للطالبتين صفاء ونسمة تبعهما مسرحية قصيرة عن التنمر ومساوئه كتبتها الطالبة حنين ومثلها لنا طلاب المستوى الأول سيمون وريهام وروان وسحر وأحمد وطارق وحنين. ولا ننسى أحد أهم الفقرات في حفل اليوم وهي مسرحية "الويل الأعظم" كتبها طالب المستوى الرابع المتألق الحسين بن طلال وترجمها زكريا عارف، ولا ننسى الممثلين المبدعين في المسرحية: الحسين بن طلال وبدر حميد وصفاء جميل ودعاء العريقي ومحمود شكري وشيماء وعبدالخالق وسارة وخليفة وزكريا وسمر وعبدالرحمن. ومجدداً استمعنا إلى أغنية بصوت الطالبة مروى العذب ثم خطاب تحفيزي من الطالبة سمر. واستمعنا بعدها إلى فقرة مقارنة بين الأدب العربي والأدب الانجليزي مع الطالبين رغد وعمران. تلا ذلك مسرحية كوميدية قصيرة بعنوان المرأة الخارقة كتبها المبدع الطالب محمد الرفاعي و مثلها الطلاب محمد الرفاعي وطارق زياد وطاهر ونجم ومحمد العامري ومحمد جميل وآية. واستمعنا بعد ذلك إلى فقرة عن أهمية دراسة اللغة الإنجليزية قدمتها لنا الطالبة غدير الكامل. و استمعنا بعدها إلى أغنية جميلة مع الطالبتين مروى وآية. ولا ننسى فقرة عرض الأزياء التي قدمها لنا نخبة من طلاب القسم بتنظيم الطالبتين لارا ورحمة. وقبل اختتام الحفل قدمت لنا عائشة مسابقة ترفيهية ممتعة. واختتمت الفعالية بتكريم الفائزتين في مسابقتي قراءة الشعر والمناظرة، حيث فازت دعاء العريقي في مسابقة المناظرة ورغد الشريف في مسابقة قراءة الشعر. وأخيراً، التقط الطلاب صوراً تذكارية مع من كان لها الفضل الأكبر في إقامة الفعالية وهي الدكتورة هدى سيف رئيسة قسم اللغة الإنجليزية.

level 4 students, English Department, Faculty of Arts had the opportunity to attend a two-day training course in ELE (English Language Education) to improve their capabilities and skills in teaching English in the First British Center.

We were provided with much valuable information. Our minds were totally refreshed.

The first day has ended leaving in us the determination to gain,learn,and help those learners of English Language.

We are now just thirsty to continue and eagerly waiting for Saturday to have another chance to attend such fabulous training with the great teacher, Mr.Najib Al-Mawadim.

Finally,thanks a million for the Chairperson of our department,Dr.Huda Saif.
