The Process Art Party
Location: The Rumpus Room, Thirroul
Celebrate the joy of the mess!
The Process Art Party is a high-energy festival of colour, texture, and play. We believe every child is a natural maker, so we’re throwing out the rulebook and diving headfirst into a celebration of the tactile.
From "baking" heaps of clay donuts and stuffing quirky party monsters to vibrant tie-dye sessions and giant collaborative murals, these workshops are all about the pure delight of creating. At The Rumpus Room, we transform the studio into a playground where children lead the way through sensory experiments and big, bold artistic choices. It’s the ultimate "un-birthday" party where the mess is the guest of honour!
The Details-
Investment: $50 per child, per session.
Duration: 2 hours of immersive making.
Vouchers: We are a registered provider! I proudly accept Creative Kids Vouchers.
Flexibility: Parents are welcome to "drop and go" for some kid-free time, or stay and get creative alongside younger children.
Philosophy: Guided by a qualified teacher with 9+ years of experience, our sessions focus on process over product, building creative confidence in a supportive, sensory-rich environment.

The Magic Maker’s Studio
Location: Thames Street Studio, West Wollongong
Step into a world of wonder and transformation.
The Magic Maker’s Studio is a place where art and alchemy collide. Designed to spark curiosity and wonder, this set of workshops invites children to become masters of the unseen. From brewing bubbling fairy potions and "magic mud" to engineering mythical paper-mache totems and sculpting relic dragon eggs, we bridge the gap between science, nature, and art.
In the quiet, creative sanctuary of Thames Street Studio, we’ll explore foraged materials, shimmering "stardust," and the ancient textures of the earth. This isn’t just about making art, it’s about discovering the magic in the process.

Meet Alanna: The Heart Behind Made Askew
Hi there! I’m Alanna, and I am so glad you’ve found your way into our creative community.
As a child, I was always happiest with art materials in my hands. There is a certain magic in that stage of life, a natural ability to create without inhibition, that I’ve always held close to my heart. My passion was truly reignited through working with children. Watching them dive into materials with such pure, fearless curiosity reminded me of why I fell in love with art in the first place.
My Path & Philosophy
I’ve spent over nine years teaching across Australia and internationally, supported by a Bachelor of Creative Arts and a Masters of Teaching. These experiences have shaped my belief that learning is most meaningful when it is hands-on, exploratory, and deeply connected to the world around us.
In my workshops, we focus on process over product. While I help students develop foundational skills, my real goal is to support them in discovering their own unique artistic voices. I believe all children are capable of amazing things when given gentle guidance and the space to experiment.
Inspired by Nature & Clay
When I’m not in the studio teaching, you’ll likely find me outdoors. As a ceramic artist, I love capturing the fleeting, subtle details of nature. I often work with wild, unprocessed clay. It’s unpredictable and requires a lot of patience, but it serves as a beautiful reminder to embrace experimentation and trust the process.
Life as a Maker and Mother
My biggest inspiration, however, is my own daughter. Her curiosity and love for the "small things" inspire me every single day and remind me to slow down and notice the wonder in the everyday.
I am a lifelong learner at heart, and I hope to inspire that same disposition in everyone who joins me at Made Askew. I can’t wait to see what you and your little ones create!

Hello lovely community 🤍
I wanted to pop in and introduce Made Askew, a new creative workshop space running a fresh term of weekly workshops here in the Illawarra.
Made Askew grew from a love of making, teaching, and community and a desire to create a space where both children and adults can slow down, get their hands messy, and enjoy creating without pressure or expectation. It’s not about perfect outcomes, but about confidence, curiosity, and connection.
This term, we’re offering a small, gentle lineup of weekly workshops across Thirroul, Coledale, and Port Kembla starting on Monday:
🎨 Little Makers Playgroup (Ages 2–6 + caregiver)
A relaxed, sensory-rich session for little ones and their grown-ups to explore materials, stories, and creative play together.
🎨 Little Art Explorers (Ages 5–8)
Open-ended studio time for early primary kids to experiment with colour, texture, and their own ideas.
🎨 Art Investigator’s Studio (Ages 9–12)
A deeper, studio-style workshop for older children who love to think, experiment, and create.
☕ Craft Café (Adults)
A calm, welcoming creative space for adults, with a rotating menu of projects like watercolour, embroidery, and terracotta — all at your own pace.
✨ Ceramics at Number 99 (Toddlers, Kids & Adults)
Hosted at our Port Kembla space, these gently guided hand-building workshops are a chance to learn new skills and bring your ideas to life, producing ceramic works that will last a lifetime.
📍 Workshop locations:
• The Rumpus Room, Thirroul
• Coledale Community Hall
• Number 99, Port Kembla
If you’re a local parent, caregiver, student, creative – or simply someone looking for a warm space to make and connect, we’d love to welcome you.
