Trece Martires City College successfully conducted its In-Service Training on March 18, 2026, at the Function Hall, with the theme โEthical Standards and Capacity Building Seminar on Anti-VAWC Laws in the Workplace.โ
The seminar was spearheaded by Ms. Merlinda C. Aral, Head of HRMO and Prof. Juanita A. Gatdula, Vice President of Administration. Prof. Francisco B. Sosa Jr., the College Administrator, who emphasized the ethical responsibilities of faculty and staff, and Ms. Aral acknowledged the participants.
In the morning, Dr. Arnulfo F. Perez, the Vice President for Planning, Development, and Quality Assurance, introduced the guest speaker, Atty. Regina M. Ocampo-Magugat discussed Republic Act No. 6713 and Republic Act No. 9262, highlighting ethical standards in public service, safeguarding the integrity of government operations, and ensuring the protection of women and children. In the afternoon, Mr. Rozhrell Z. Antivola presented the guest speaker, Atty. Kim M. Moral discussed Republic Act No. 11313 (Safe Spaces Act) and Republic Act No. 7877 (Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995), highlighting their importance in promoting a safe and respectful environment and protecting individuals from sexual harassment both in the workplace and educational settings.
Other contributors included Prof. Juanita A. Gatdula, who presented CHED Memorandum Order No. 1, Series of 2015, focusing on gender-sensitive education and the establishment of the Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI); Mr. Christian Kyle R. Sotto, HRMO On-the-Job Trainee, discussed the composition of CODI; Ms. Andrea C. Panelo, HRM Staff, presented CODIโs roles and responsibilities. Before the seminar ended, Ms. Theryl Pandan, Vice President of the Faculty and Employees Association (FEA), shared updates on employee support, benefits, and other concerns. The seminar then concluded with closing remarks delivered by Ms. Maribel C. Codaste, HRM Assistant, who expressed her gratitude to the resource speakers, participants, and organizers for their active involvement throughout the program. She emphasized the importance of applying the knowledge and insights gained during the seminar to foster a safe, and supportive environment within the institution.
Aligned with the TMCC Vision, Mission, and Core Values, the seminar promoted truth, competence, and community-orientedness by strengthening awareness of Anti-VAWC laws, ethical standards, and gender sensitivity, contributing to the development of morally upright and socially responsible individuals.
The activity also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), by advocating safe, inclusive, and equitable environments. Furthermore, it aligns with the CHED ACHIEVE framework by enhancing institutional capacity, promoting inclusive education, and reinforcing governance and ethical standards in higher education.
