The morning fog, the cooler, wet weather, my sniffling nose & watery eyes.
The wild greets me at every corner.
Packing hay, throwing pine shavings, scratching the muddy fur of the horses.
I look back at the bright glow shining through the windows of the apartment—the silhouettes of kids playing at the table. The scent of coffee beans and toast lingering in the warm burrow of our household.
From out here I can see the seasonal changes, I can feel the tangled manes and wet mushrooms. I smell the damp, foggy air as it perks up my tired face.
I know you’re there, just around the corner, dear wild beast— a constant reminder when I need it most.

Cindy Lou saying hi in the crisp morning light that feels like fall is creeping in close and things are shifting almost without us noticing it. ✨

I’m one of those people who likes everything just so. My environment greatly effects my internal world, and I love curating the perfect vibe in every space.
These days I live in a tiny apartment with toys and clothes scattered about. Instead of playing my own music, I repeat the (sometimes annoying) songs my children want to hear.
We go about the day trying to keep up with household chores (inevitably we’re always behind) that continue to get pushed till “tomorrow”, and I watch as the finally folded laundry gets quickly tossed back on the floor in search of a perfect outfit that doesn’t exist.
These days the ambiance that I’d love to control is more of a chaotic storm that swirls around us.
Bumped knees, half-eaten sandwiches, kisses, screams, dirty surfaces, laughter, cries, warm hugs, apologies, cuddles, tears, dancing, naps, & trying not to say “be careful!” every third sentence.
These days I blink and a month goes by - my tiny baby gets bigger & stronger, my four year old outgrows her clothes and feeds the sheep all on her own.
These are not the days of perfectly beautiful shiny spaces that are Instagram worthy. No sitting on the deck to sip a glass of wine or read a book in the quiet breeze.
But I can tell you this - it’s the most beautiful mess I’ve ever been in. Everything is richer and felt more deeply. It’s so hard and yet these are some of the best days of my life. They slip away so fast and my heart breaks and expands at the same time. I don’t ever want to imagine the day when I live in the perfectly tidy house, the one that doesn’t hold tiny voices and piles of laundry. The beautiful space without the life I hold so dear. 💜💜💜

People often ask me if I ride my horses. It’s such a (unsurprisingly) common question that I’d love to address it here.✨
There is not a one-word answer. I do not believe riding horses is inherently wrong. But just like everything else, the answer lies in the who-what-when-where-why of it. Riding another being is an unavoidably intimate activity— you are placing your body & energy on another body and asking them to carry you.
Just like any kind of intimate act I would look at two things: relationship and consent.
How is my relationship to this horse? Do we fully trust each other? Do we both consent? Just like all areas of life, consent is not a one-and-done question… consent is moment-to-moment… yes, I’m enjoying this - no I’m not enjoying this anymore, etc.
The way you’re doing something matters.
Remember when you were a kid and an adult tried to force you into having fun? If you don’t want to, you can’t be tricked into enjoying something. “Training” doesn’t mean they authentically enjoy the act.
In any *authentic* relationship, you care about each others thoughts, opinions, and mutual enjoyment. Hard stop.
So the answer is: maybe sometimes — but likely not in the way you think of riding as a sport.
I have learned to appreciate the individual soul & friendship of each horse— I want to do with them what they want to do with me.
Tango is my retired rescue horse, he is not interested in riding at all.
Kamali, on the other hand, is usually down for an adventure provided he is listened to along the way (and he doesn’t seem to mind me on his back- I imagine he’d enjoy it at times).
There is much more to this answer but I think this explanation suffices. (My daughter is probably who they would actually enjoy riding with because she ultimately has no motives other than loving them.)
One day, we’ll see!✨
I hope the world continues to move in a direction where we will progress into *listening* to all other beings on earth and giving them ownership over their own body and life.
(So far, I’m disappointed.)

“Quiet Stillness” card from my Sacred Seasons deck (seems appropriate today) ❄️ Anyone who has been in a snowy forest has felt the unexpectedly profound state of quiet stillness.
It’s not a place we go (internally) very often, but winter reminds us the importance of quiet stillness. It’s here that we receive understanding, connectedness and remembering.
Creative answers, inspiration and divine neutrality can also be found in the metaphorical (and literal) snow.
Horses have been forever teaching me the necessity of this challenging, yet simple, winter lesson.
Now more than ever — with the chaos of new motherhood & life upon me — I find this act the most beneficial to shift my feeling from overwhelm to clarity. 💙
✨P.S. You’ll find this card and it’s corresponding message in my Sacred Seasons Oracle & Guidebook (linked in bio)✨

A seasonal altar is one of the simple ways I feel connected to the season & to my magical Self.
✨An altar can be something temporary, portable, or something more permanently set up in your home.
It can also be outside, or you can just add seasonal items to something you already have indoors.
🍁In my experience, there are no rules - all that matters is how it makes you feel.
Collect items that call to you or make you feel connected to this season.
Images or items that remind you who you *really* are. ⚡️
Autumn is such a magical season in itself, give in to the desire to play & experiment with your witchy self! 💫🍂

🍂This is my favorite season because things start feeling a little more magical ✨
That being said, I acknowledge the challenges and emotions that arise as we start slowing down & say goodbye to the summer excitement.
⚡️Focusing on the specific lessons of fall and leaning into the change has made it easier for me to move more gracefully into this seasonal shift.
Do any of these autumnal themes resonate with you right now?? 🍁

🍂Autumn Equinox is here, but seasons don’t change overnight- they drift in and out like a slow tide.
During this changeover - sitting on the cusp of masculine (summer) & feminine (fall) energies - we get a special, magical overlap.
✨Feel into the seasonal shifting.
Summer was about doing, but now we begin to lean back in to receiving.
During this fleeting in-between we still get to dance openly with both.
⚡️Take a few moments to realize that all parts of your Self are in a heightened state, currently.
While this may feel heavy, it can also feel whole & full of potential.
Take to nature.
Don’t let the magic blend get overlooked 💫 welcome, fall! 🍂

◄ Silence & Secrets ►
The bobcat is a solitary animal, and learning to be alone without being lonely is part of what bobcat teaches. The bobcat’s keen eyesight, sensitive whiskers, and tufted ears make it a superb nighttime hunter. Using the cloak of darkness and secrecy, the bobcat can teach how to project and utilize the life force in silent but powerful ways. There is true power and strength through silence. For those to whom bobcat comes, expect some new learning (formal or informal).

The Holy Interval is the short period leading up to the equinox, when a seasonal shift occurs.
In these handful of days leading up to the fall equinox, we enter this special & powerful period when the energies of both summer & fall intersect.
You might say the veil gets thinned, magic meets the mundane, spiritual forces are illuminated.
💫However you view it, we can all feel the potency of this time. Unique potential swirls in the air.
I, myself, am already feeling the grief mixed with the magic & excitement of autumn setting into my bones.
Now is the time to listen. Over the next few days, see if you can bring a little more intention and mindfulness into your daily rituals.
If you’re having trouble hearing, Nature is always your gateway— some stillness outdoors can illuminate what’s whispering beneath the surface.

We are drawn to the wildness, freedom, sensitivity & power of the horse — and yet we spend our efforts trying to tame, manipulate, & conform them.
We see our own suppressed authenticity and wisdom reflected back at us by them, and yet we try to steal theirs’ & latch onto them, rather than cultivating our own sacred potential.
Our desire to control them is just a reflection of our desperate desire to control ourselves.
We will never succeed at either— and the effort will only cause us pain, in the end.
It’s time to unleash, untame, unwind— time to lean into the wild instead of against it.
Magic awaits you there. 💫

Children come into the world feeling abundant and without questioning their inherent worth. It’s only through us that they learn to perform in order to be celebrated and develop the feeling of scarcity.
Family, school, and societal influence instill a dangerous template that value is linked to “success” and wealth is linked to action.
Learning to dislodge my sense of value and abundance out of this false social construct has been a painful, challenging, and ongoing process that I continue to chip away at.
I never want my daughter to question her true worth, or to feel like she has to earn my love — but this inherited belief system is a deeply seeded illusion that most of us pass on, unquestioningly.
One of the reasons I believe so passionately that nature is our strongest teacher is because She is the mother who shows unconditional love. Nature proves that stillness is just as important as action, that riches & abundance are your birthright, and that the True Self is inherently valuable and worthy.
Judgement and hierarchy are concepts developed by humans in False Self, but when thrown to the wild they lose all validity, because nature isn’t hierarchical but cyclical and interconnected.
The slow act of dismantling these false templates is not only an ever-giving gift you can give yourself, but it’s a gift we should be giving our children and future generations.
