The “New Client” search for curly hair has never been higher, but is the industry actually ready? 📈✂️
As the Founder of txtūr Academy and The Curl Lounge, I’m seeing a massive gap in our industry. While major professional brands are finally launching texture-specific products, there is still a disconnect in the chair.
Here is why we need to make textured hair education a global standard:
1️⃣ The Influx of Natural Texture: More clients than ever are ditching the heat and embracing their natural patterns. They aren’t just looking for a trim; they are looking for a Curly Hair Specialist who understands the science of their hair.
2️⃣ The “DIY” Crisis: Because many haven’t found a “safe space” in a salon, they are turning to the internet and doing their hair at home. When clients feel they can do a better job than a professional, our industry loses value. We must step up.
3️⃣ Closing the Knowledge Gap: Professional products are only as good as the hands using them. At txtūr Academy, we believe education on hair porosity, shaping, and hydration should be the standard across Canada and internationally—not just a “specialty” niche.
