Life is short, art is long. Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity was founded on June 12, 1903 at the University School of Music in Ann Arbor, MI. We are a sisterhood whose mission is to encourage, nuture, and support the art of music. Sigma Alpha Iota Philanthropies, Inc., created in 1974 as a tax-exempt, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is the charitable arm of Sigma Alpha Iota, interna

tional music fraternity. Its mission is to promote all aspects of music creation, performance and scholarship; and encourage service for and through music on the campus, in the community, in the nation, and throughout the world. Our chapter, Mu Xi, was founded on April 18th, 2015. It currently holds 5 members, all students of Roosevelt University. Our members are active in ensembles and performances both in and outside of school. As a chapter, we volunteer with Sharing Notes and LLC Kare 9 Military Ministry. Once a semester, we also do a CCPA Practice Room Cleanup! We hold weekly meetings and occasional sisterhood events and fundraisers. We are not just a group of professional women musicians, but a sisterhood of strong, steadfast friends!
