🏡❤️ THE NOOK IS OFFICIALLY OPEN! ❤️🏡

Today we opened the doors to The Nook for the very first time.
It was lovely to sit down over a cuppa, chat, share ideas and begin conversations about what The Nook could become for our community.

A special thank you to Cllr Nadine McGuinness of Warsop Parish Council, who joined Matthew and me today to help run our first session, and to County Cllr Andy McCormack for coming along to support us.

Thank you as well to everyone who popped in, helped out and has supported us in getting The Nook to this point. ❤️
The most important thing about The Nook is that it will grow by listening to the people who use it. Today was simply the first step.
We'll be back next Tuesday, so if you didn't make it today, come along and say hello. There's nothing to join — just pop in for a cuppa, a chat and to find out what we're all about.

🏡❤️ TODAY’S THE DAY! ❤️🏡

This afternoon, the doors to The Nook open for the very first time.
What started as an idea, followed by months of planning, conversations and preparation, finally becomes a real community space today
We don't know exactly what The Nook will become yet — and that's the exciting part.
We want the people of Warsop to help shape it. Tell us what they'd enjoy, what might help, what would bring people together, and what could make a difference locally.
So today isn't about launching a finished programme. It's simply the beginning. ❤️

If you're passing, come in and say hello. We'd genuinely love to meet you.

🏡 THE NOOK OPENS TOMORROW! 🏡

After lots of planning and preparation, we're finally ready to open the doors to The Nook — and we'd love you to come and say hello. ❤️

📅 Tuesday 6th October
⏰ 12.30pm–2.30pm
📍 Wellington Close Community Centre, Warsop, NG20 0JL

Pop in for a cuppa, cake, or biscuits, meet us, and chat about what you would like to see happening at The Nook.

There is nothing to join, no need to book and no pressure to stay for the whole session. Come for ten minutes or stay for the afternoon — it's entirely up to you.

💡 Got an idea for something you'd like to see locally?
Our Suggestion Box will be ready too, because we want The Nook to grow around the people who use it.

Come on your own. Bring a friend. Bring your ideas.
Everyone is welcome. ❤️

🏡 Something new is beginning in Warsop… and we’d love you to be part of it!
On Tuesday 6th October, we’ll be opening the doors to The Nook for the first time. 💚
📍 Wellington Close Community Centre, Warsop
🕧 12.30pm–2.30pm
The first few weeks aren't about us telling you what The Nook is going to be — they're about listening to you.
Come along for a cuppa, cake or biscuits, meet other local people and have a chat with us about what you'd like to see happening at The Nook.
You might have an idea for an activity, need a little more connection in your week, have a skill you'd love to share, or simply fancy somewhere friendly to sit and have a cuppa. ☕🍰
You don't need to join anything and you don't need to book.
Come on your own.
Bring a friend.
Bring your ideas. ❤️
Everyone is welcome.
We want The Nook to grow with the people who use it — starting small, listening and creating something that genuinely works for our community.
Creating something WITH our community, not simply FOR our community.

🌸 Amazing what can happen when you stop for a chat...

Today, Chris and I were watering the community planter outside the Parish Council offices when a lovely neighbour stopped to talk to us.

The first thing she said was how beautiful the flowers looked and how lovely it was to see the planter full of colour.

She went on to say that she'd often thought about doing something for the community herself but, like so many of us, life had got busy and she'd just never got round to it.

That conversation reminded me of something important...

People want to help.

They just need someone to take the first step.

Before long, we were chatting about ideas for the future – bringing people together for a community morning with tea, coffee and cake, painting benches, planting flowers, creating a watering rota and working together to keep our village looking beautiful.

It wasn't a planned meeting.

It wasn't on an agenda.

It was simply a conversation between neighbours.

Sometimes that's exactly where the best community ideas begin.

At Thrive Together Community CIC, we believe communities grow when people come together, share ideas and realise that everyone has something valuable to contribute.

Who knows where today's conversation might lead? 🌱

💚 Together we grow: empowering resilience, inspiring growth.

Have you ever thought, "I'd love to do something for the community"? We'd love to hear your ideas in the comments.

with Kathy Grubb

This week marks Knife Crime Awareness Week — an important reminder that behind every statistic is a young person, a family, a friendship group, and a community affected by choices that can change lives forever.

At Thrive Together Community CIC, we believe prevention starts with conversation.

We mustn't simply tell young people what not to do, but also take the time to listen and understand why some feel that carrying a knife is acceptable, necessary, or linked to fear, pressure, protection, belonging, or influence.

Young people need safe spaces where they feel able to speak openly without judgment.

Through our conversation-led workshops, community engagement, and educational resources, Thrive Together Community CIC works with schools, colleges, universities, youth groups, and community organisations to encourage honest conversations around:
• peer pressure
• fear and safety
• emotional wellbeing
• resilience
• consequences
• confidence and belonging
• making safer choices

Our educational workbook, Knives Take Lives – Finding Safer Paths, is also available on Amazon as part of our wider preventive education resources. https://www.amazon.com/author/kathygrubb

Sometimes listening is the first step towards prevention.

Together we grow. Together we protect futures.
