Take action for snakes 🐍
Here’s your chance to start the year strong and make a real difference for snakes, other reptiles, and amphibians. Louisiana’s wildlife is at risk from commercial exploitation and the release and relocation of reptiles and amphibians. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is proposing stronger protections for Louisiana’s native reptiles and amphibians. We need to tell decision-makers that the people of Louisiana and other wildlife enthusiasts overwhelmingly support these important protections. Regardless of where you live, your voice will make a difference here!

The proposed protections will:
✅ Strengthen protections for rare species;
✅ Protect turtles from overharvesting;
✅ Protect wildlife from disease and other risks by prohibiting unauthorized release or relocation of captive or wild animals;
✅ Improve welfare for captive reptiles and amphibians; and
✅ Prohibit wildlife-killing contests that target amphibians and reptiles, including the Lake Providence Snake Rodeo!
In the decade we’ve worked on snake-killing festivals, this is the best chance we’ve had to end one. But we need your help. The Louisiana Wildlife Commission can prevent these protections from moving forward, so they need to know there is strong support.
