Today, I received the kind of news every tutor dreams of. After seven and a half years of working together, one of my long-term homeschooled students has passed his GCSE equivalent (Functional Skills Level 2) in maths!
This has been one of the most complex and rewarding tutoring journeys of my entire career. It was never linear, more a long, winding path with a few lulls. It taught me more about mathematics education, neurodiversity, and human resilience than any training ever could.
My tutee and his family never gave up. And neither did I. With slow persistence and quiet, dogged determination, he got there.
Today is a milestone. For him, and for me. What a fabulous way to end the year 😀
