How good is this catch from Taj of Y9? A 50 cm Trevally that towed him around Avoca Lagoon in his kayak for half an hour. Great work Taj!

Very pleased to say we had 18 pairs in action for Friday’s pairs fishing competition. A falling tide and calm conditions at the Lintern channel, Davistown, was a great way to end the week. Bream, flathead, and whiting were the dominant species caught by our anglers. Kobe’s 45 cm whiting was the fish of the day. That’s a horse! After 3 1/2 hours, the final standings were as follows:
1st place - Jack & Zach of Y7 on 90 pts
2nd place - Taj & Kobe of Y9 on 75 pts
=3rd place - Jack & Izac of Y8 on 15 pts
=3rd place - Tom & Will of Y8 on 15 pts

There were 16 pairs in action for our Term 4 fishing competition at Davistown on Friday. Whiting, flathead, bream, longtom, stingrays and even a blue swimmer crab were among the species caught. Will’s 38 cm bream was a real stand out. Dean and Taran were the surprise duo of the day, however, tying for first place with Lennox and Riley on 85 points. Teja and Tom snagged third place with 50 points.

The weather forecast for Friday‘s fishing competition at Davistown sees a rising tide through to its peak at 9 pm, mild temperature around 21° and a bit of a breeze 24-25km/h out of the South-East at this stage. 

Well it's competition time again. KHS students and their family members are welcome to join us for this pairs fishing event at the Lintern Channel, Davistown. It's on Friday afternoon 10 November between 3:30 and 7pm. Its based on a points format and catch and release, with undersize fish being worth 5 pts and keepers or legal size fish worth 40 pts to a team's total. Bragging rights are up for grabs, and Mr Walker has generously supported the event with some funding for Freddy's Vouchers as prizes. Mr Riley will do a sausage sizzle to feed the hungry fishos throughout the afternoon. It is a rising tide up until 8:30pm. I'll post about the expected conditions separately. We hope you can join us. If you are interested, please add your name and partner to the list outside Mr Riley's office and you will receive an email with the competition rules.

And speaking of big flathead, how’s this 90 cm stonker from Townes in Year 9? What a fish! Well done mate.

A cracking afternoon of fishing yesterday at Davistown. We had a dozen pairs competing and it was great to see so many fish caught. Flathead, Whiting, Tailor, Bream and Wrasse were all landed. An awesome afternoon of fun. Final placings will be announced early next week. Thanks to Mr Stalgis, Mr Goucher, Miss Lawler and Mrs Maljevac for supporting the event, and all those parents who dropped off the kids and/or came to enjoy the beautiful sunset. Our next event is likely to be a beach worming session at Avoca Beach. Details to be announced soon.
