Miles covered. Comfort found. ✨

In this community, we talk a lot about growing—spiritually and physically. To do that, you need the right gear. I just finished a week of heavy miles in my new T1 Mount Coast shoes, and my feet have never felt better. The extra width is a total game-changer for long treks!

Highly recommend these for your next adventure. 🌲🙌

The Grand Canyon is the Goal, but the Living Room is the Battleground

mismatched schedules, the "Busy Trap," and finding God’s rhythm.

The Grand Canyon is a place of ancient, holy silence. But getting there? That process is loud, sweaty, and—if I’m being honest—completely chaotic.

As we prepare for our upcoming hike through the Canyon, we’ve realized that the physical toll is only half the battle. To survive that descent and the grueling climb back out, we have to get fit. We have to be ready. But "preparing" looks a lot less like a cinematic training montage and a lot more like a messy negotiation between two tired people.

The Friction of Fitness

There is a unique kind of friction that happens in a marriage when you are working toward a physical goal. It brings us closer, yes, but it also exposes our differences.

I’ll be ready to hit the pavement, laced up and motivated, but Justin is coming off a long shift and has nothing left to give. Or he’ll be fired up at 6:00 AM, and I’m staring at the coffee pot like it’s my only hope for survival. We push each other—that’s the "iron sharpening iron" part of marriage—but sometimes that sharpening feels like it’s creating

In the middle of trying to hit our step counts, we’re balancing work deadlines, the needs of our kids, and the never-ending pile of laundry. It’s in these moments, gasping for air between a workout and a school run, that I’ve had a realization:

I truly don’t think God designed life to feel like this.

We live in a world that worships the "hustle," but the Bible speaks of "green pastures" and "still waters." We are training to go see one of the greatest wonders of His creation, yet we’re so busy preparing for it that we’re almost too tired to enjoy the Creator.

If God designed us for the wilderness, He designed us for a rhythm that matches our heartbeat—not the frantic pace of a digital calendar.

What We’re Learning

We’re learning that "fitness" for the Grand Canyon isn't just about our lung capacity; it’s about our grace capacity. * It’s about Justin choosing to encourage me when I’m sluggish.

It’s about me choosing patience when he’s too tired to move.

It’s about realizing that even if we never make it to the bottom of the Canyon, the "workout" of choosing love in the middle of a busy Tuesday is a spiritual victory in itself.

Life is loud. The world is fast. But we’re determined to find the slow, steady path together.

The "Wait a Second" Marriage: Why We’re Done Living for Later
"Wait a second."

How many times a day do we say that to the people we love most?

"Wait a second, I just need to finish this email."

"Wait a second, let me just check this notification."

"Wait a second, I’ve got to move this laundry to the dryer."

Recently, we looked at each other and realized our marriage was becoming a series of "wait a seconds." We were giving our best energy to our screens and our chores, while giving each other the leftovers—the tired, distracted, 9:00 PM versions of ourselves.

We were physically in the same room, but spiritually miles apart.

God didn't design marriage to be lived in the margins of a busy schedule. He designed us for presence. But presence is nearly impossible when the Wi-Fi is strong and the to-do list is endless.

This is why we started stepping Beyond the Threshold.

We found that when we get out on the trail, the "wait a seconds" change meaning. You can’t check an email when you’re navigating a rocky switchback. You can’t scroll through a feed when you’re holding your spouse's hand to cross a creek.

Out there, "Wait a second" becomes:

"Wait a second, look at how the light is hitting those trees."

"Wait a second, I think I finally hear God’s voice in the quiet."

"Wait a second... I forgot how much I just enjoy being with you."

The chores will still be there when you get back. The emails aren't going anywhere. But the opportunity to really see your spouse without a glowing screen between you? That is a gift that expires.

Stop waiting for a "vacation" to reconnect. Take your marriage outside this weekend. Trade the digital "likes" for a real-life sunset. Your faith and your spouse will thank you for it.

What is the one thing that usually makes you say "wait a second" to your spouse? Let’s name the distraction in the comments so we can move past it together.

🥾 Big News: We’re Taking on the Grand Canyon!
Can you believe that this October, we’ll be heading out on a five-day hike through the Grand Canyon? It feels like it’s ages away, but we know it’s going to creep up on us faster than we think!

We’ve officially started training, and let’s just say... some days the "getting in shape" part has us wondering, "What were we thinking?!" 😂

Honestly, though, this journey is already bringing us so much closer to each other and to God. Pushing our physical limits really puts things into perspective. Justin is being an amazing leader through the process, and I know we’ve got this! 🏔️🙌

We want to hear from YOU:

👇 Tag your favorite hiking partner below! ⛰️ What is the toughest hike you’ve ever completed? We need all the inspiration (and maybe a few survival tips) we can get!

Alright folks, this is our first adventure of 2026! We actually started right where we started 2025. A year ago tomorrow is where it all began. What I thought was just a hike across the railroad tracks to Mossbrae Falls turned into the rest of my life. Justin got down on one knee, proposed, and asked me to be his forever Mrs. Cork.

In a short four months, we put together the most amazing wedding. What a year it’s been—I couldn’t be more blessed. This is what it's truly about: God, marriage, and the great outdoors. Justin and I talk a lot about how the closer we get to God, the closer we get to each other, and boy, is that one of the truest statements!

We also discuss how we both got baptized this year, and man, were we tested afterwards! But that did not change our loyalty; it actually brought us closer and made our faith stronger. Justin and I have grown in faith together. I am not the same woman and he is not the same man we were a year ago.

My hope is that even though we’ve only been at this a year, our past and our passion for God can help us walk with others on the same path. Women, we need to love our husbands, hold them up, and edify them. Let me tell you, if you RESPECT your husband, the things he will do for you! Whoo-hoo, this is going to be an amazing year. God, marriage, and the great outdoors!

We’re back and better than ever! 🥾
The holidays provided a nice pause, but Cork Outdoor Adventures is officially gearing up for our biggest year yet. We are so excited to take you all along on our journey through new hikes, hidden waterfalls, and challenging trails.
The big highlight? In October, we’re taking on a 5-day hike in the Grand Canyon! This is a massive "first" for me, and while it’s Justin’s 4th time, sharing this experience together is going to be life-changing.
We’re also looking forward to connecting with other couples on weekend trips. For us, it’s all about God, marriage, and the great outdoors.
How you can support our journey: Preparing for a 5-day trek in the canyon requires a lot of preparation and specific gear. If you feel led to help us get there, we have two ways you can contribute:
• Our Adventure Wishlist: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/33SOPSHUN1V4W?ref_=wl_share Amazon — This includes the specific gear and safety items we need for the trail.

🌿❤️ "Faith, the great outdoors, and marriage remind me of how coming together—even during the hard times—can create something so beautiful. Marrying someone who is truly your best friend doesn’t mean we won’t have our moments. Trust me, there are times when I definitely get on Justin’s nerves! My impatience clashes with his patience, and we often find different ways to protect ourselves when we feel misunderstood.

So often, issues stem from miscommunication, but getting outside together helps remind us what’s truly important. There’s something healing in nature that allows us to reconnect and refocus. We remind each other that we’re on the same team, even when it feels tough.

In our journey, we strive to be that imperfect couple who prioritizes good communication and puts God first. We trust that He has a plan for us, and we choose to embrace that every day. There may always be someone or something that seems 'better' out there, but we make the conscious choice to stand by each other, no matter what life throws at us.

Here’s to the ups and downs, the laughter and the learning, and the daily reminder that love, commitment, and faith are the greatest gifts of all. 💕✨ "

Today's journey with Cork's Outdoor Adventures was a profound experience that beautifully intertwined nature, faith, and the essence of relaxation. It served as a gentle reminder of the unique peace that comes from immersing ourselves in the great outdoors. In our fast-paced lives, we often allow our responsibilities and societal expectations to overshadow the simplicity of living in the moment.

As we celebrated Father’s Day weekend, I found myself reflecting on the roles we play in our relationships. While each of us contributes differently, it became clear to me that men, in their essence, often find tremendous joy in the uncomplicated pleasures of life. Justin was in his element today, standing by the water, fishing rod in hand, completely at ease and fully present. I watched him with admiration as he immersed himself in the tranquility of nature. There was an undeniable happiness radiating from him, a pure joy that came from being connected to the earth and in tune with the rhythm of the water.

While I joined him in the fishing activity, my focus drifted from the catch itself to the serenity of the moment and the sheer contentment on his face. It was a reminder of how important it is to savor the present. Time seemed to dissolve around us as we shared laughter and conversation, the hours slipping by unnoticed. We were reminded that life, in its simplest form, is a gift.

Our destination, Burney Falls, was nothing short of magical. The moment we arrived, I was struck by the combination of the majestic falls and the lush, vibrant surroundings. The park's upgrades had enhanced the trails, making them more accessible and enjoyable. As we walked along the paths, the sound of rushing water filled the air, creating an atmosphere of pure serenity. Each turn offered breathtaking views that inspired awe and gratitude.

Fishing at Burney Falls added an extra layer of excitement to our day. We were fortunate to snag a few trout, but it wasn’t just about the catch; it was about the shared experience—the thrill of reeling in a fish, high-fiving after a successful catch, and reveling in the beauty that enveloped us. The lush greenery, the vibrant colors of the wildflowers, and the cool, refreshing spray from the falls all combined to create a feast for the senses.

For just $10 for parking, along with a full tank of gas, we were able to enjoy an entire day of adventure and discovery. It was a small price to pay for such an enriching experience. I highly recommend taking the time to visit Burney Falls. It’s a place that invites you to slow down, to breathe, and to reconnect with the simple joys of life.

As we wrapped up our day, I felt renewed—a sense of gratitude for the reminders nature provides us about life’s simplicity. Days like today reinforce the importance of taking time away from our obligations, to rediscover what truly matters: love, connection, and the beauty surrounding us. As we cultivate these moments, we are reminded that a peaceful heart and joyful spirit can be found in the great outdoors.
