Sunday Dojo was built on the premise of integrating various budo martial arts which aims to cultivate the body, heart & mind.
Undeniably, application in real life combatives serve as a good checkpoint for the practitioner's alertness and skill levels

Here is an incident encountered by our trainer while on a trip in Europe

"Got my phone back after sprinting towards and cornering the man who shook my hand and attempted a weird dance. He was highly skilful that all it took was less than 10 seconds.

I quickly realised it after as I have a habit to tap my pocket regularly. By then, he was running about 50m away.

Things that I considered mentally while I started sprinting after him:

1. Danger: hidden weapons such as knifes, guns, hard/sharp objects.
2. Terrain: it's a old european town lined with cobbled uneven grounds and any sort of ground skills, takedowns/guard position would not be ideal.
3. Consequences: even though im physically bigger and likely stronger than the pickpocket, should I assume aggression in form of striking and top grappling position for control, I will certainly not want to escalate matters with local enforcements if I hurt him.
4. Civility: considering the pickpocket's dazed look and slurred speech, I was certain he is likely under influenced of substances. This assertion promoted me to adopt a non contact approach and attempting to coerce him to return my phone.

By this moment, I had caught up with him in a corner while my partner doubled up behind, all these while shouting for passerbys to help stop the pickpocket(it is highly helpful to have a partner on high alert and assumed the position to rally passerbys).

The pickpocket meekly passed me back the phone in his corner while I smiled at him, assuming an open palm combat position."
