Parkway Spark Bioscience

Parkway Schools Spark! Bioscience students had the privilege of attending the opening session at the Trilateral Agrifood Innovation Symposium by BioSTL at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center this morning. We heard from delegates from Israel and the UAE, as well as US congresswoman Ann Wagner, who has been actively involved in the Abraham Accords. The symposium focuses on how Israel, the UAE, and the US are coming together to improve stability and security of agriculture and the food supply. It was a great opportunity to network with scientists and members of BioSTL.

Parkway Schools Spark! students participated in DISC training with our mentor Kent Schien, to learn about the roles we play on a team and how to communicate better with each other.

We are so happy to be back to our in person presentations with spark mentors!! Things look a little different this year but it is just as exciting as ever! Parkway Schools Parkway Spark bioscience students are extracting DNA from home! While we were in person, we gathered lab materials for those labs that can safely be done at home. We have practiced microbiology skills too!

Today Parkway Schools Parkway Spark invited along to our zoom room for a very special event! Special guest instructor Guitaro 5000 shared his experiences with building his brand and creating opportunities for himself. Parkway Schools Parkway Spark students were excited to get back into the lab this week BRDG Park St. Louis Community College We learned how to prepare growth media and practiced pipetting skills!

Industry leaders came together this morning to create the vision for the Spark! Sports Medicine strand that is launching next year! Thanks to our partners for their valuable input.

Parkway Spark students attended the Health Career Exploration Day at Mercy Hospital St. Louis today! They got to try inctubating a patient, using an ultrasound, patient moving equipment, and even got casts at the first aid tent! Don't worry, no injuries were actually sustained! Parkway Schools
