To wrap up our summer income lessons for May, we’re reviewing gross and net pay! If it’s your first time receiving a paystub, there are two amounts that may be confusing.
- Gross pay is the amount of money you earn for your work.
- Net pay is the amount of money that you can deposit or spend after deductions.
- Deductions are taken from your earnings for taxes or specific employer benefit packages. When building your budget, be sure to plan with your net pay, as that is the amount of money in your wallet.
An easy equation to remember is:
Gross Pay ➖ Deductions 🟰 Net Pay
