We were very luck to visit Sally at Kiwi Country Kids farm up in Patoka on Thursday as part of our ongoing Farmer Time for Schools program.
In the 2.5 hours we were there, we:
Held baby ducklings, fed lambs, calves, goats, horses, pigs, cattle, chickens and guinea fowl.
We learned about food production and minimizing waste as much as possible, much to the pig's delight!
We witnessed to true nature of lambing season and even checked out a fresh placenta!
We also helped Sally plant some native Carex grasses in her wetlands and gifted a koha of some White Kakabeak seeds as a tautoko for her mahi on the farm.
An awesome day that we will try and recreate in the nearby future. Thanks again to Sally and Kiwi Country Kids for having us, we will be back!
